“I want to sincerely thank all of our fantastic ‘Heroes Reborn’ fans for watching our latest volume.   Our entire team here couldn't be more thrilled that you are going to finally get to see the series finale tonight -- the biggest episode ever in the ‘Heroes’ saga to date.  I’ve said from the beginning that ‘Heroes Reborn’ would be 13 episodes long, with a beginning, middle and end.  I know word has been circulating that ‘Heroes Reborn’ has been ‘canceled,’ but I want to assure you that tonight’s finale is exactly the ending we’ve had planned from the very beginning.  I’ve also stated that if there was going to be more story, it would not be part of ‘Heroes Reborn,’ but rather some future volume with a brand new story.  Let me just say clearly for the record — the ‘Heroes’ universe is designed to be large and multi-platformed.  ‘Heroes Reborn’ alone now includes six novellas, a series of comic books from Titan Publishing, and our two new games ‘GEMINI - Heroes Reborn’ (on Xbox now, releasing on all other console and PC platforms next week) and ‘Heroes Reborn ENIGMA’ (available on mobile and tablet).  I think you will see that tonight’s final episode clearly leaves the door open for us to tell more stories within the ‘Heroes’ saga. We would be honored if you came along for that ride with us when we do.  Until then I want to offer my heartfelt gratitude to the many fans of ‘Heroes’ and ‘Heroes Reborn’ for your loyal and unwavering support.  Stay tuned.  There is more to come.”-Tim Kring Some points to note: 1) This message is directly from Tim Kring.  Not his agent.  Not the Heroes PR department.  Not NBC.  Kring.  2) Though other major news outlets will be picking it up, Kring is speaking directly to the Fans.  He gave the information directly to the Vox as well as TV Guide.  3) Note the bold and italics.  “When” we tell the saga, not “if.”  “There is more to come.”  That pretty much speaks for itself.

So there has been talk of the Reborn being “cancelled.”

VERDICT ON REBORN

Before I go any further with this, I would like to remind people about one thing: 95% of shows that get cancelled do not come back at all.  I can think of about four other sci-fi/fantasy shows that got cancelled and came back, and they are Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, X-Files, and Doctor Who.  All things considered, we are in DAMN good company with the Reborn.  Also, as a reminder, The term "cancellation" doesn’t apply to a mini-series that airs all its episodes, which this iteration of Reborn will.

Now, as to the truth or falseness of the rumor, this is the answer we got from someone who works on Heroes (not NBC, the show itself). "It was always designed to be a closed-ended [mini-series event]. It doesn’t mean that sometime in the future there won’t be another iteration of HEROES.  It doesn’t mean the franchise is gone.  It only means that HEROES REBORN [as a mini-series event] is ending as intended. Bob Greenblatt left the door open if Tim wants to do another volume."

Meaning: yes, the Reborn is ending. It was always intended to end.   HOWEVER: that does not mean there may not be more.  Even NBC states that the door is still open for another "mini-series event," if Kring is up for it.  As for whether Kring is up for it, well, it's Tim Kring.  Draw your own conclusions on that.

So.  In short, yes, this story will end.  That does not mean there won't be any more ever.  It may be another few years, but the door IS STILL OPEN more another miniseries or event.  

Take heart, Heroes fans.  To quote Monty Python: "we're not quite dead."

There is  a rumor starting to go around the Doctor Who fandom and other sources that Freema Agyeman is joining Heroes Reborn.  The Vox has contacted both NBC and the Heroes office, both of whom state that Ms. Agyeman is NOT joining Reborn.  Whoever started that rumor mistook Judith Shekoni for Freema and didn’t bother fact checking.  Please do not be taken in by this rumor, and if you have any Whovian friends, please let them know as well.
