FANDOM: X-Men (Original Timeline Movies & SOME comic references) RELATIONSHIP: Hank McCoy x OFC SUMMARY: Secretary Hank McCoy has traditionally spent the holidays alone. This year he’d been invited by Charles to the mansion for a celebration he wasn’t morally able to turn down.

During a trip to New York for presents, Hank stumbles across a human woman he just can’t seem to walk away from. It’s serendipity at its finest during a time of year when romance seems magical.

Lola, a Journalism major with innocent dreams of making the world a better place, finds herself attracted to a muscular, charismatic middle-aged man she runs into (quite literally) in her favourite cafe. He likes wearing fine suits. She's just trying to make it to the end of her final year.

There’s more than meets the eye, however, to the gentleman that’s caught HER eye. He isn’t what he seems and he’s hiding a very BLUE secret from her.

It's kind of funny because I'm a writer and have no shame regarding my browser history. There is some weird shit in there without a doubt.

Any false sense of anonymity via browser isn't going to change the fact that I'm on some sort of watch list out there.

I don't open up about my opinions very often online. Especially not in potentially controversial ways. This, however, is an important topic. I write for a living. I don't WANT to write more when I get home from work. I literally DO NOT WANT TO. The burnout from 11 years in Journalism is severe-- there's no other way of saying it. Some days I'd rather cry than write another word. Then a few months ago I went and broke my dominant wrist / hand and that made writing even harder. It never healed correctly, so I now experience pain when I write longer than a certain amount of time. I've been off work from it and I'm sort of dreading going back to 10+ hour days. Here's the thing. I'll be going back. I will. Because as much as it'll cause me pain and for as burned out as I am? Writing is so ingrained into me that I don't think I know how to stop doing it. Using AI to write just takes away all the blood, sweat and tears that go into the craft-- the roller coaster of joy and sorrow. We as writers are composers of worlds and weavers of emotion.

Our instrument of choice is imagination.

AI is soulless and it spits on everything people like me have done to become what we are. I may suffer for my job, but at least I have passion. A machine can't feel the same way about any of this and inputting a prompt doesn't make you a poet.

I love when I'm writing and suddenly a character starts to do something without consulting me first. Even better? When said action fits in perfectly with another plotline and shows the connection between the two different plotlines. like queue kronk's "oh yeah, it's all coming together"

I just want to talk about the power of commenting on fics for a minute.

I have my main fandom, but when I read in other fandoms, I don't know many of the writers. So I usually just find fics by looking through the tag I want. And if it's a tag I'm really interested in, I'll read every fic in the tag. And if there's a fic I really liked in there, I'll start reading everything by that writer.

So what this means is I'm sometimes reading fics or writers that don't have tons of hits/kudos/comments on their fics, but I found them through some obscure tag I wanted to read. And so I'll get back some really incredibly sweet replies to my comments.

But then, something even more incredible started happening. I'd be reading WIPs by some of these writers and they'd literally start writing the rest of the fic for me. They started asking me what I hoped to see happen or if I had any requests. And when the fic was finished, one of them said the only reason they kept writing the fic was for me.

Sometimes there can be such a lovely connection between the writer and the reader just because you decided to leave a comment. And sometimes you as the commenting reader can become the lone reason why a fic makes its way into the world for all the other readers who come after you.

Please remember your favorite writers are attention whores with a praise kink, they need validation to survive. Feed them comments and reblogs to save a life.

Then unfollow them.

"I'm not following them, but they're in all the tags!"

Then block them.

"I blocked them but all the people I follow reblog their posts!"

Then unfollow those people.

"But I like their other content!"

Then add the person's username to your blocklist.

"But—"

No. Stop. Listen. You cannot control what other people post or how they interpret your favorite characters or what ships they like. All you can control is your own actions and your public responses. Block them, filter out their username, then post your own stuff to carve out a space for yourself and people like you in your fandom. You will be a million times happier if you focus on what you're doing and what you enjoy instead of on the people you don't like.
