Making the final touches to the video e.g. colour correction, audio and framing

POSITIVE: Good narrative that was told well Good chosen character IMPROVEMENTS abrupt start so may want a black screen to hold the audiences attention Fix the audio so it isn't cut off Choose a type of transition to use so it isn't confusing to the audience Fix the colour correction so it isn't so washed out

This is precisely how we feel now that the video is finished

We all came together on Sunday and reviewed it as a group and did some final touches like the title sequences, colour correction, and fixing the audio just a bit. It all went down well and we exported the video.

Whilst editing the video, we again decided that the music just wasn’t right for the video. It made its pacing very slow and sadder than the video itself actually was. We used different music again from incompetech and edited that together to fit our video as not all of it was the right feel for the video.

Myself and Helin then pulled an all nighter and edited the entire video

Puil and Taiyo also edited the bulk of the video which we all reviewed in class the next day. We got some useful critique and that helped us re arrange the ordering of the interview

Edited for 3 days in a row by myself working on the documentary and shortening the overall rough cut and being decisive about which shots we were going to use

Whilst creating the rough cut of the documentary, we began to realise the music that we had originally chosen didn’t seem to fit what we had now filmed. We changed from what we decided to use in our presentation and found something not as solemn and almost depressing sounding.

We then chose Light though var 2 from the free music sight Incompetech

With the second time filming, we conducted a more successful recce. Included are pictures of spaces around his house that we wanted to film in. we felt that the living room had a lot more character than the rest of the house however during our first time filming, because of the lighting it was better to film in the kitchen.

Second time filming, we managed to have a better and more spacious setup for filming and filmed in the living room which we all collectively decided was the best place to film.

Myself and Helin then looked at the footage again and restructured the interview and created a written storyboard to help us film a lot easier the second time. We also came up with more and better questions for the interview.

As we realised that sound and lighting was an issue, we also hired out more equipment including the Marantz for the smaller mic recording, the reflector board and the lighting equipment which we think will solve most of the problems we had first time filming.

EXAMPLE 2

I felt that this was a very successful shot in terms of the clarity of it and evoking some sort of emotion when re watching it. This is something we would definitely keep and recreate when filming again for additional shots.

I really liked this shot however it was really shaky camera work. I decided that this shot could be carried forward on to the next lot of filming just making sure next time that we use a tripod to film this or have at least two people holding the camera to film it for a more stable framing.
