“I don’t know. It’s apparently traditional to lie to children about holidays. The Easter Bunny is also not real.”
“There’s an Easter Bunny that’s not real, too? And why would you lie about someone who gives you free stuff?”
Jemma shrugs. “Honestly I don’t know. Children are supposed to be improved by being lied to and lead to believe in impossible things like Leporidae hiding colorful eggs around the yard and magical intruders leaving packages for them. Maybe it’s a religious thing, get them used to just accepting crazy ideas early, though when we grow up we all are expected to learn it’s not true so no that doesn’t even follow.”
“I’d rather believe in an impossible fat guy bringing me stuff if I was good than a very possible blue guy who’d kill you if you were bad,” Deke pointed out. “And lepoardye leaving eggs is weird unless they lay them.”
