Elise smirked, rising from her seat. “You got it.”
A while later, they were at the ship’s hangar, where her mech, a Locust, was housed.
“The LCT-1V, or Locust as we call it.“
Elise continued. “It’s a light mech, designed primarily for recon and hit-and-run style tactics when in a fight. It’s got a high movement speed, but low defensive capabilities. For offense, it’s equipped with a medium laser in the chest, and two machine guns up there on the sides.”
“This one has been my partner for as long as I’ve been a mercenary,” she mused, “not as fancy as some of the mechs I’ve seen…Ieuzuno, I think it’s called? They’ve got some pretty fancy mechs. But they look difficult to maintain. Not like my darling Locust here.”
The light mech wasn’t as fancy, it was true, but it did look like it could easily outgun the more agile Ieuzunoan mecha.
Vrok looked up and around at the walker mech. Maybe it wasn’t the hulking monster some other mechs out there were but for what he had planned it would be plenty. Besides which that would mean he could hopefully handle it if this mercenary decided to sign up with somebody else or got a delusion that she could extort more money out of him using the mech.
He looked it over and ran his fingers along the painted metal and checked the thickness of the armor. “Interesting. Well light armor or not I doubt you’ll have to worry about any anti-armor. We’re planning to push a family we’re at war with out of a nearby neighborhood. From what we’ve seen it’s a lot of small arms that’ll be spread across a maximum of three story buildings.”
The midoan pat dust away from his hands and turned back to Elise. “You’ll be leading the charge with your armor and my men will occupy behind it. There may be some light vehicle transports or a heavy machinegun scattered around but I’m sure you can handle that.”
Pulling out a cigar and lighting it Vrok puffed some smoke to the side. “I can offer a quarter of the payment up front to cover munitions and maintenance costs. I’ll offer three thousand credits total and a five hundred credit retainer to keep you on reserve afterward- that means no working in that thing for a bit afterwards without clearing it with me first.”
Vrok took another drag from the cigar, “Any questions?”
