How a single career counselling session completely changed my path
When I was younger, I was that kid who always knew exactly what they wanted to do in life. I wanted to be an astronaut one of the most common childhood dreams. Back then, it made me feel a bit âaheadâ compared to other kids who were still confused about their future.
But reality hit me in high school. My love for science faded as my grades dropped, no matter how much I studied. I started doubting myself and felt completely lost. Since I had chosen science in my 12th boards, technically all fields were still open to me, but I didnât know which direction to take.
Thatâs when I spoke to my elder sister, who suggested I try a career counselling session. Honestly, I was skeptical but it turned out to be a game changer. After some psychometric tests and a couple of hours of one-on-one counselling, I finally felt relief. Instead of endless confusion, I walked out with three career paths that were genuinely a good fit for me.
Fast-forward to now: Iâm pursuing psychology and planning to become a clinical psychologist in a few years. And honestly? That clarity came only because I sought career guidance at the right time.
It made me wonder, why isnât this mandatory for every student? From my perspective, everyone should go through career counselling at least once, no matter how âclearâ they think their goals are.
For anyone curious, I personally went through Allegiance Educare in Bangalore but honestly, it doesnât matter where you do it just do it from somewhere. Instead of endlessly scrolling online for advice, Iâd really recommend talking to a professional at least once. It made all the difference for me. what are your thoughts on career counselling?, why most people avoid getting career counselling ?, what as a person who is going to be a part of this filed i should do ? do let me know your thoughts.
