Gudak Camera
I have begun using an app that has some unique characteristics. It is called Gudak, a play on Kodak I suspect, and operates like a cheap point and shoot film camera. The app only allows you to shoot 24 frames, it then “processes the film over 3 days, and once a film is finished you have to wait 24 hours before you can reload a film!
So far I have shot about 3 rolls and I like what I’m getting. Lots of chromatic aberrations, a huge parallax error witnessed above by the fact the skull was meant to be dead centre, the same horizontal shot completely chopped off the chin.
When making pictures that have parallel edges, there’s plenty of distortion there too.
As an added bonus, you get random fogging and other analogue film simulated defects as well.
In low light conditions such as inside the NGV last week, it even underexposes your pictures as a point and shoot without flash would.
All in all this is a fun app to use and puts the challenge of old analogue point and shoots back in your pocket everywhere all the time for a fraction of the cost!
PS, I plan on printing some of them too!
This is a great app and worth the $1.99 I paid for it.

Week 12 2016
Hi folks we have reached the business end of the semester.
Thank you to all the people who discussed their final folios with me, I look forward to seeing the actual end products.
Next week please bring a folder of jpegs to class. Copy them to the Mac I use in C511 to teach from and we will all look at your final results.
Some logistics will help this process run quicker. Please NO power points or other slide show tools, we are only interested in the pictures, and this requires no special software. If your idea involves a sequence of images in a particular order make sure the file names reflect this. Use either abc.jpg, or 123.jpg when you sort them out.
Also consider these three questions to address when discussing your folio. What you chose to do? Why you chose the idea you chose? How you went about producing the final product?
Looking forward to what will no doubt be an exciting group of pictures.
