It would be interesting to see more works explore body horror as a metaphor/allegory for sexual assault because the two have deep similarities. Body horror as a concept is often about unwanted changes to one’s body against their will and consent; it’s awful and disgusting and in some cases lethal, making the victim want to die every waking second half of the time (of course this isn’t all body horror but this is often what many people imagine it as)
But unfortunately a lot of people let their minds be clouded by “how sexy can the body horror be” and get in the way of actually further analyzing it and how it can connect to sexual assault/abuse itself.
Which is kind of ironic ain’t it: mirroring just how much people don’t care for victims of assault and would rather drool over the concept of it for their own 5 minute satisfaction because “what if it can be sexy”
Same kinds of people who look over the fact that the entire thing with the facehuggers from the Alien franchise is highly allegorical for sexual assault because “hot aliens” or something
