Never have I ever been so smitten all at once.

It makes me want to puke.

To want so viciously

Is to turn in my bed on mornings I have not slept nearly enough

And think about the ways I could love her as she slips through my window.

Because

I’d rather cut open my stomach and bleed Monarchs than admit

That every time I see her I’m a little more conscious of the dirt caked beneath my fingernails as I cling to the Earth.

That when she talks to me, teeth grit together

Rather than keel over and tell her I take back what I said about love—

That I lied when I told her I was relieved to be Pluto at last.

Because

What kind of fool

Would I be to whisper to the sun that the way her rays grow brighter in the evening when she is drowned by the planet,

Choking,

Is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
