lily had one rule for her nights off - no drinking in the leaky cauldron. she needed to stay as far way from her place of work on nights off as possible. it would’ve just been sad otherwise. but other bars were not off limits and she was using that fact to a point where it was almost ridiculous. two butterbeers and one firewhiskey in she was currently nursing her third bottle butterbeer.
“is it bad that i miss peeves right now?” lily asked, a contemplative furrow in her brow as she lifted her butterbeer to her lips, “like it’s been three years since i left hogwarts and out of all things i really shouldn’t miss peeves, right?” she sighed, shaking her head at her own lamenting more than anything else, “i do though… i miss him, and he used to throw water at me and shout ‘carrots need water to grow’.”
who knew little owlets could be so exhausting? peter loved owls so much, but their babies were monsters. this batch, especially. peter left work that night with a bunch of new bites and scratches to show off to his friends. he was sure some of these were going to scar. since the night was still young, peter found himself sitting next lily evans at a different bar then the one he was used to seeing her at. probably didn’t want to mix business with pleasure, which was understandable or just the thought of being there on a day off was nauseating, which was more understandable.
peter on his his second firewhiskey, felt like his insides were burning. the taste and the feeling was terrible but after every sip, he felt less anxious about everything around him. “i think you’re the only one in the world that misses him.” he said softly taking another sip of firewhiskey. peter didn’t miss peeves, not one bit, and that feeling was never going change. “well, i mean, he isn’t wrong.” peter looked over at lily and smiled, “don’t think i share the same feelings for peeves as you do.”
