It was a strange thing to feel alone when surrounded by people. Yet, Yuri isolated. He was aware it was his own doing. The choice of standing off to the side, or in this case, alone at a cement table eating fries, was his. Though, that never deter people from staying. A fact proven more often than none. Perhaps it was his soft nature that drew to him. If only they knew what he really was.
His eyes moved from person to person, watching them. It was a bit of a habit of his. It wasn’t so so much as watching as he was just studying them and making sure they weren’t threats. Yet, he couldn’t help himself from wondering things about them, comparing his life and their’s. Such habit was probably what made him notice her. High socks and heels, it seemed impractical for the park, though that wasn’t what had him watching her.
There was something in her walk that set him off. She had the look of a lioness on the prowl, and she was moving towards her victim. Only the victim was not one to go down easy. No with one look, and Yuri was able to see this man, her target, was not as clean as he portrayed himself to be. A clean suit and expensive watches, were but distractions to what kind of man he was.
Yet, Yuri did nothing. Keeping a slight eye on the situation as he continued snacking.
Waverly loved this. Definitely more than she should have. She loved the way the tone and lilt of her laugh would create the desired effect. an easiness. She loved the way that her hand innocently falling on the man, Lionel’s wrist, was both a flirtatious movement and an opportunity to gauge the heft of the watch she inexplicably desired. Had she called up her father, or perhaps her brother, she could’ve quite easily gotten what she wanted legally, hell she could’ve afforded it herself, but there was more than just a thrill that came with taking from someone unsuspecting, there was a validation to it. She could walk away smiling from a shoot or a date with thousands of dollars of jewels or gadgets or money in her purse or pocket, and feel sure that she was not only able to distract them with her beauty, but overcome them in other ways too.
Lionel was describing his yacht, docked in the North Cove Marina, with more love and dedication than he would ever describe the daughter he’d mentioned in passing minutes. It felt almost too easy. His eyes darted one way or another when she brought up that she would love to go for a day trip sometime. Her hand slid up his arm under his suit jacket and she wondered if he could tell the clasp was undone on his watch. He pulled away from her, hesitant with a familiar look overcoming his face, of guilt. These men had affairs, she participated in a dozen, but they all still felt so weirdly coy about them. It made her want to giggle.
When he pulled away his arms went down to his lap, and quickly returned to the table. She slipped the watch into her purse and looked over her shoulder, wondering if anyone had noticed. Her eyes locked momentarily with the french fry guy a few tables away. Normally she might’ve shot him a look to persuade him to stay quiet but her face went blank, unsure of how to respond, except a momentary look, that tried to be both threatening and pleading, asking him to stay quiet.
