It's a new day.
Spending my last morning in NY pretending that I’m in Paris.
My last weekend in New York. Found a stash of money that’s useless to me, but it’s buying a trip down memory lane.
i cant believe that is literally beyoncé’s face as she is plummeting off a building
i am laying down in bed with a double chin

I think we still live in a culture that assumes that men are single by choice and women are single because no one wants them.

When do we want it? Now.

There was a block long line of teenaged girls in Chelsea. I asked who they were camping out for (literally) and instead of a band they said that they were waiting to see "The Fault in Our Stars." Not judging, but I was surprised.

I don’t know what your policy on promos is, but I wanted to put this out there if possible.
A boy in the SF bay area has been diagnosed with leukemia and is in need of a mixed bone marrow donor:
Baylor is diagnosed with leukemia and he needs a matching marrow donor. Since matching is based on ethnicity, he will most likely need a mixed race donor who is also Japanese and German.
If there are any followers who match this description, please consider registering through Be The Match or through the aadp.org website. They can send a kit to your address and it takes 10 minutes to do. It’s free if you want it to be since they cover the cost of your registration but recommend an optional contribution.
Even if you’re not a potential donor for Baylor, please consider registering anyway.
As stated on the aadp website:
Ethnicity is crucial when matching patients with donors. Due to the severe shortage of ethnic minorities in the Be The Match Registry, ethnic and diverse patients are less likely to find a matching donor. Descent of Asian Pacific Islander, African American, Hispanic/ Latino, Native Indian and mixed race are highly encouraged to register.
You can find out about the donation process here.
I know it can be a lot to ask for some people, but think of how you could impact someone’s life.
Hopefully we never find ourselves or our loved ones in this position, but you never know what life may throw at you either.
Let’s help raise the odds that everything will be alright.
Chef John Hall went back to his Alabama hometown, and he's part of the next generation of progressive southern chefs.
I know that I have a lot of Alabamians that follow me here. If you have the chance to try John's food in Birmingham, do it! He is one the most talented and hard working people that I've ever worked with, aaaaaand also one of the nicest! Which counts for a lot in my book. Eat there!
While researching my recent article on Dead Horse Bay, I happened to come across a NY Times article ...
The more things change, the more things stay the same. Love it.
Eavesdropping used to be more interesting in New York.
The Loving family. Just 45 years ago, 16 states deemed marriages between two people of different races illegal. But in 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court considered the case of Richard Perry Loving, who was white, and his wife, Mildred Loving, of African American and Native American descent. The case changed history.
Obit of the Day: DJ E-Z Rock
Rodney Bryce (DJ E-Z Rock) and Rob Base expanded the crossover appeal of hip-hop tremendously with the 1988 release of “It Takes Two” which hit #36 on the Billboard 100 and #3 on the magazine’s dance charts. The album, also titled It Takes Two, would go multi-platinum selling over seven million copies. (It peaked at #31 on Billboard's album charts which was considered impressive for a hip-hop album at the time.) The folow-up to “It Takes Two” was ”Joy and Pain,” another hit for the artists.
The song samples Lyn Collins’ 1972 song “Think (About It)” with the omnipresent “Woo! Yeah!” and The Galactic Force Band which provides the song’s introduction from their song “Space Dust.” Years later “It Takes Two” became a sample favorite used by myriad artists including Snoop Dogg, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, BoA, Limp Bizkit, and Manxsta.
After It Takes Two, the duo split for six years reuniting for 1994’s Break of Dawn which could not match the critical or popular success of their first album.
"It Takes Two" was ranked as the 15th best hip-hop song of all time by Questlove in his 2012 Rolling Stone ranking. VH-1 also had it in the top 50 of all time.
DJ E-Z Rock died unexpectedly on April 27, 2014 at the age of 46.
