This kid is fourteen. His parents are dead, his oldest brother works two jobs and his other brother dropped out just so they wouldn’t all go under. The first THREE PAGES of the book is him getting jumped with a sharp object (I can’t remember exactly what it was) to his NECK. HE’S FOURTEEN. And the next time he’s jumped, he’s BEING DROWNED. All by the Socs

So YEAH, I think he has a right to be angry and biased. Also, HE’S A KID. A fourteen year old in that kind of situation and mental space (remember, routine threats by the Socs, smoking at such a young age at the capacity he did, etc.) won’t look at kids richer than him that (in his mind) do everything in their power to make his and his friends lives miserable with nuance and understanding. NO. He’s GOING TO BE ANGRY. And he has every right to be, in my opinion

Sometimes I feel like a fake fan of a series because I like popular characters

And then I remember that as soon as I read SON and met Frank Zhang I fell in love and audibly complained when his chapters were shorter than Hazel’s or Percy’s and frantically had to check MOA and HOH to see if he had a chapter in them (becoming sad for the former, and probably way too happy for the latter)

I had not seen a single headcanon or fanart or anything about him before meeting him in SON. I had no coercion whatsoever. I just read his first chapter and decided he (and Hazel) were the best characters in the seven, hands down (Annabeth and Percy do not count in this ranking system because I’ve decided they transcend it)

I honestly think he deserves more love than he gets

It’s already a known thing in Percy Jackson that the Hephaestus cabin are beasts when it comes to fireworks

Imagine how much more chaotic it is when Leo gets there, and then factor in 4th of July, 2026, 250 years

Nobody can hear for a week and the fireworks were so bright at least a handful of kids were permanently blinded. One kid fainted. Nobody is allowed out of their cabins for a few days because there was so much smoke after

Never had a dream with a moment of “I’m about to wake up” in like a horror sense. Like the dream is normal and then something spooky happens because I realize it’s a dream

However

I have had scary dreams (scary as in horror and scary as in uh-oh, that is NOT good) where halfway through I think “This is a dream” and after that I’m awaiting the end of my sleep. And sometimes it’s actually scarier than normal scary dreams because even though I know it’s a dream I can’t stop it and can’t make myself wake up so I’m haunted by the fact my brain did that to itself

Antonius (EPIC): NONONONONONONOONO—

Poseidon (EPIC): Depends. If I’ve made him mad, that kid probably isn’t living, but if I haven’t, then they’d probably be okay

John Dickinson (1776): No. I don’t think he’d like kids anyway, but I just wouldn’t trust him

Edward Rutledge (1776): Same as John, but somehow less. I don’t know. He was WAY too enthusiastically singing about slavery in Molasses to Rum

Hades (HadesTown): Yeah. If I don’t need to give my life away for him to do it, nor does the kid, then I think he’d keep the kid safe

The Fates (HadesTown): They already planned this kid’s entire life, and how awful it’ll be. No

Aaron Burr (Hamilton): Of course. He’s a father, and so dedicated to that fact he’d rather kill a man with young children than let his adult daughter be orphaned (kidding, but yes, I’d trust)

King George III (Hamilton): Based just on the musical, inconclusive, but I guess because he isn’t as evil and is kind of comedy relief (again, strictly based on how he is portrayed in the musical)

I think fun alternatives to games like Guess Who are so cool (ie, playing but not asking physical questions, but instead opinion based), but one I think is interesting: asking questions strictly based on fictional characters.
