Krosmoz Fanserver - 1000 member milestone!!!

Etymology of Dardondakal & Grougalorasalar

It's no secret that the names of the 4 elemental primordial dragons come from a combination of a word denoting their respective element + the name of an archangel in abrahamic traditions. Aerafal = Air + Rafael Aguabrial = Water + Gabriel Ignemikhal = Fire + Michael Terrakourial = Earth + Uriel But for YEARS I just couldn't figure out how the other 2 Dragons, Dardondakal & Grougalorasalar, fit into this picture. So this time around I actually SAT DOWN to decipher those names! I want to preface that this is very unserious and I am REACHING to have this make sense in my head. It's likely complete bullshit <3 and any French speaking fan will easily point out the nonsense I am spouting, gomenasorry in advance o/ ------------------------- 1. Dardondakal This one seemed easy at first. It had the same ''-al'' suffix as the other 4 dragons, based on the common ''-el'' suffix of angel names. Surely this would be '''element/color'' + ''angel'' too, right? But unlike the other 4, where the prefixes (aer-, agua-, igne- & terra-) were clear ... dardon- did not ring a bell at all. :( Nothing related to white (fire), light, wisdom, anything of the sort. I got desperate and went ''french'', what could dard|on mean in French? Dardondakals tail always stood out in his designs, it's shape resembling a plant bud (dard being a type of bud in French?). Maybe if we also visualize it as a weapon, like a spear (dard) or an animals sting (dard)...or Sting (dard) , Bilbo and Frodos dagger in LoTR...you know, the one that glows blue when Orcs are near. Glowing blue like..Dardondakals eyes, like Wakfu (White Fire). The suffix/ending also got me stumped. The other 4 already had the names of the most well known angels I was aware of. Well, aside from Castiel (heh), Metatron & Lucifer. Zadkiel is honestly just the closest name to -dakal, even if his domains do not seem to out of place for Dardondakal. Oh and in some texts he/Zadkiel holds a dagger; WHICH FITS WITH OUR PREVIOUS IDEA OF DARD + DAGUE, COINCIDENCE??? Yeah, very likely :)))))) To summarize: Dardondakal Dard(on) + Dakal Dard+Dague+Zadkiel

------------------- 2. Grougalorasalar Grougalorasalar on the other hand was always the odd one out. Not only did he have the same prefix as Grougalo-ra-gran (maybe due to both being 'black dragons') but he was also the only dragon of the 6 that did not end with an -al, but instead with a -lar. Done on purpose to make him stick out like the black sheep that he is? It's been repeatedly shown that out of the 6 dragons in question, he is the most openly malicious one by far. Now comes the hardest part: what does Grougal mean. LIKE; SERIOUSLY WHAT IS IT? I will now make a ridiculous suggestion. Grougal = Grande Gueule (this doesn't even sound similar, wtf Wada). Gueule in the sense of animal mouth/maw. Salar does have a distinctly shaped maw...and it would contrast Dakals tail (the beginning vs the end of a dragons body). Plus there's Salars distinct connection to Crocodyles in Dofus lore...and what animal is best known for its huge maw, why crocodiles of course!! As for a fitting angel name, both Azrael (an angel of death) & Azazel (a fallen angel) come to mind. Not only do the letters match & can be rearranged to sound similar to -(r)asalar but even their respective domains (death > black fire/stasis) & (fallen angel > darker nature) seem like solid superficial fits.

To summarize: Grougalorasalar Grou+Gal(o)+(R)asalar Grande+Gueule+Azrael or Azazel

Wakfu: The Great Wave - Chapter 22 Spoilers

Rant time!!! I skipped last weeks chapter, I had a few thoughts on it, I think it did not deviate too much from what others i spoke to, thought tho. I'm trying out the 'keep reading' feature so I don't accidentally spoiler someone. I hope it works. For the same reason I am not posting any images. At least for the first few days of the chapter release^^

I keep having my issues with the way the story progresses in the webtoon. Last volume it was Joris entanglement with the Ouginak children in the sewers (at the very least I hope this will pay out later on, but even then it felt like a sidequest pushed into the narrative). And now they're going to check out a Gobbowl match, and this is going to take at least 1-2 more chapters I estimate, which would already almost half the volume, with little progress :( If Great Wave had an indeterminate number of planned volumes, it would not be a problem. But i recall them saying it's only going to be 3 and that worrries me sooo much qq THAT SAID, my bias shows because given I love Gobbowl, this chapter was made FOR ME :) Pure fanservice, the return of Kriss and Maude only cements that. I can't think of a way they'd be relevant to the larger story but at the same time...I think a large majority of us fans are glad to see them again, back in the day (S1 &2 airing) Kriss used to be my fav :3 Will say that I was LOWKEY disappointed when they announced the ''Sidimote Rats'' and I was eagerly hoping for a gobbowl team full of actual anthro Rats. People familiar with my OC Brienne will understand hehe. I liked this chapter <3 and I am happy to be able to say this, because I did not feel the same way with previous ones. The biggest downside was, and we're used to that by now, is that the chapters are SO SHORT, it was over in the blink of an eye </3 To be expected as there were a lot of action-y panels. And.....adressing Amalia, whose behavior was seen with a very critical eye last chapter (out-of-character, development regress etc), I am glad that she was so insightful and quick to accept blame for her reaction, as understandable as it was. I did fear the chapter would spend all of its pages on her lashing out on Yugo.

I hope the next few chapters will sate my thirst for more Gobbowl (I need a spinoff already!) and fill my Wakfu enjoyment meter because I do not know what awaits us after that...

Dofus Manga out in English!?!

Allskreen and the other Krosmoz App thingie have finally started releasing the Dofus Manga in English! Chapter 1 so far. (in webtoon format sadly but i get why) Seems like the rest of Vol 1 comes on the 9th, no idea what the release plans are after that tho. To those who were previously discouraged by the language barrier, this is finally your chance to witness this iconic adventure from the Dofus era, no more excuses >:)

Seeing others ramble about Wakfu on tumblr made me want to do the same but i ended up getting angry thinking about the lore and it's your guys' fault! /j

Rewatching Noras flashback & Eliatropes song, I wanted to write a post about my issues with the krosmology and Nora/Eliatrope backstory established in S4.

And how much at odds it is with previous lore from the games & other media and how it makes the CURRENT known history of the Krosmoz an incoherent, incomprehensible mess. But i got so mad & annoyed typing just this post alone, I gave up on going indepth with my complaints.

I honestly don't understand how Nora & Eliatrope-centric fans, lore nerds & Elia OC owners can deal with it cause they're the most affected??? Please tell me .-. Yes, I know IoW is not canon anymore (it always will for me, maybe that is part of my issue and anger).

I dread what other changes Tut has planned and how it will affect if not outright CHANGE the MMO lore as well (i am scared of this years 6 Primordial Dragon ingame content) Which is immensely more enjoyable and indepth that whatever the series established and changed. Don't tell Bluesky I got mad, i promised I'd be positive.

Chilchuck is such an interesting character because he really has no reason to be here. He hates endangering himself, he hates working without pay, and he absolutely hates getting buddy buddy with his colleagues. But it's like he can't help himself. He cares too much. If he doesn't help, Falin might die. Laios will lose his sister and Marcille will lose her best friend (wife). And he doesn't want them to go through that. So he will help. He'll say he's doing it for selfish reasons, he'll say he won't do any more than he's being paid to do, but he's lying. He goes above and beyond time and time again. He just cares about his friends. He's constantly looking out for them and trying to keep them safe. But he'd never admit it.
