As expected, they found a mutant hellion at the end of their investigation of local rumours; another Anomalous Orb they could not leave free. It roamed next to an obvious landmark on the otherwise flat plains, something Sorey very much intended to examine– after his job here was taken care of first.
“You ready guys?” It would be the first major battle since their new party first formed into the number it is today, and Sorey could not deny that he was nervous at the thought. Fortunatey, Rose and Dezel were dependable. With the affirmative from the party, Shepherd and Squire called upon the power of the seraphim at one– “Luzrov Rulay!”/“Lukeim Yurlin!”
Sorey and Mikleo took careful aim, dealing the first attack from afar with a large arrow of mana as Rose and Dezel charged in fast, covering the distance almost instantly with the winds propelling them. The battle began, sudden, brutal, and dissolved quickly into a flurry of artes.
A few minutes more of tinkering, and the wakizashi thinks he’s heard the device whir to life. A moment of glory for Horikawa before the sounds die down again, and he deflates. He scratches his head; this is not how he imagined his first time using the device. So much being a party leader.
Horikawa is distracted from his dilemma soon, though, as loud sounds boom from behind him, and the wakizashi peeks behind him to see what’s going on. Eyes blink, once, twice, before widening at the scene in front of him. A battle, a boy and a girl against the giant boar he saw a while ago---wait. Horikawa stares at what he thought at first was a boar. That’s not right; he thought first that it’s just an enormous boar---he’s definitely wrong. It emanates a dark aura, something he could compare to the Kebiishii and the Retrograding Army. Horikawa blinks again, glances at his device before looking back at the battle in front of him. There’s a mistake on his part: Horikawa’s focus on the device made him miss an important detail on his situation. This giant boar isn’t a boar at all: it’s definitely a monster, and those two---they’re humans, Horikawa can tell despite those flashy outfits---they’re taking care of it.
Well, on the bright side, the monster didn’t find Horikawa.
Horikawa shuffles deeper in the bushes, careful not to attract attention ( slowly, slowly, oh, that’s a loud sound---! ). He doesn’t have any plans interfering on that fight, but if the device doesn’t work until the fight is over, well, he hopes he doesn’t have to a giant boar monster. Horikawa can’t stay hidden in these bushes forever, after all. He continues trying to make the device work.
