Narcissus & Echo
(...)
Narcissus, who felt he was better than all others, frowned at Echo. « Why are your here ? » he asked.
« Here », repeated Echo.
« I wish you would go away! » Narcissus said.
« Away , » repeated Echo. She hid behind a tree and watched Narcissus.
Narcissus walked to a nearby pond to get a drink. When he bent down, he saw a beautiful face staring back at him. Narcissus smiled, and the face smiled back at him. He tried to touch the face, but it disappear under the water. Narcissus waited until the water was calm, and then looked again. The face was there once more.
« I can see you care for me just as I care for you, » Said Narcissus to the face in the water. « When I smile, you return my smile. Still, you won’t let me touch you. I will have to be content to stay here and gaze at your face. My heart is filled with love for you. »
Narcissus was so much in love that he forget to eat and drink. He grew pale and became ill. Even so, he didn’t leave the face in the pond. Finally, he died, and there, by the pond, a beautiful purple and white flower grew. The Gods called the flower Narcissus in memory of the youth who loved only himself.
Echo mourned the handsome Narcissus. She died of grief, unable to tell anyone about her love. Her voice is still heard repeating the last words she hears.
Nazar Boncuk 🧿
The Nazar Boncuk (pronounced nazar bonssouk), the lucky Turkish eye, is a talisman with ancestral origins. It is present from Greece to the Middle East, but it is in Turkey that we find the most variants. This eye-shaped amulet is supposed to protect the evil eye, its name comes from Nazar "evil eye, bad look" and Boncuk for "pearl", the word Nazar comes from نظر, to seen or see in Arabic. At first glance, the literal translation of his name, pearl of the evil eye, could be disturbing, but in fact it is quite the opposite, this eye is intended to capture the evil eye, that of the envious and jealous to protect you from their negative energies. According to popular belief, for a Nazar to be effective, it must be bought by a person with good intentions.
Coffa Siciliana
“Coffa” means basket in Sicilian. It is a basket that comes from the Sicilian rural tradition made from straw used by farmers to feed horses and donkeys. The original Coffa is made from straw that comes originally from Palma nana or from embroidered fabric thread.
Perfect for the summer, a day at the beach or a chic evening. The handle and body of the Coffa is embellished with decorations such as jewelry, flowers, feathers, small mirrors, glitter, pompoms and more. The basic color is that of the straw while the decorations must be multicolored. The most used colors are inspired by the Sicilian flag, yellow and red.
Most of the time, the original Coffa is painted by hand representing a Sicilian cart or puppets called Pupi.
All my original coffa is handmade and each piece is sewn individually.
οὐροϐόρος
The Ouroboros is one of the oldest esoteric symbols in the world, represented by a serpent or dragon that dies online. It is found throughout the world represented slightly differently in different cultures, but still with the same symbolism: the eternal cycle of nature, life and death, symbol of the fact that everything is an eternal beginning. It is therefore a symbol of hope and renewal. He is the beginning and the end of all things, but also the image that the end is only an illusion. On the other hand, it has also been considered a symbol of self-destruction and annihilation. He is therefore the symbol of paradoxes which, like him, "eat their tail". It is figuratively encountered in many cultures on all continents. The oldest known representation is in Egypt, under the XVIIIth dynasty, that is to say 16 centuries before our era. It is already mentioned in the Texts of the Pyramids. Surrounding the entire existing world, its represents the cycle of time and eternity. Sometimes depicted surrounding the rising sun on the horizon, it represents the rebirth of the god Ra every morning at the end of the Nun, which also makes it a symbol of rejuvenation and resurrection.
