i'm sooooooo close to being done this quilt! I finally got all the hand appliquéd elements on last night (there's like 54 or something haha). I'm just waiting on some hand quilting thread & I need to piece the backing & then I'll be practically done.

This is my own design. I did all the math & figured out how to do my weird ratio of half-rectangle triangles. I made my own foundation paper piecing templates for sections. And I even learned the accursed pen tool in order to make vector templates for the appliqué elements.

From back in 2023 -- the caption over on flickr is really good, i'm going to paste that here:

Adoption in bears is rare, but this season, we have the privilege of seeing this phenomenon among our Brooks River bears. The two cubs pictured are adopted siblings. Their mothers, bear 910 and bear 909 are sisters. The two sisters had cubs during different years, but they decided to raise their families together last year. This spring, the families returned together until bear 909 separated from her 2.5-year-old cub. Not quite ready for independence, 909 Jr stayed with her aunt 910 and yearling cousin and eventually was adopted. The new family fishes, travels, and sleeps together, and it seems like the new siblings are getting along just fine. NPS Photo/F. Jimenez

Both of these bears were emancipated by 910 last year, and both now have their own monitoring numbers! 909 jr is now 609, and 910jr is now 620. They arrived together this May, and were spotted playing together by maintenance staff at Brooks Camp! Here's a gif i made from the original video:
