courage or cunning | rodolphus & lily
lestrangexrod:
Challenges were rare for someone as experienced and innovative as Rodolphus, so rather than feeling alarmed by her skill, he found himself impressed. She certainly knew her way around a wand, using it like an extension of her arm, as it was supposed to be. Even some purebloods struggled to be so familiar with their magical instincts. He did not fight a smirk, letting it come as easily as the curses flowing from his lips.
Biting laughter bellowed through the darkness; she had guts, that’s for sure. Unfortunately, when Rodolphus was done they would be splayed across the forest floor. “Call it … intuition.” He fired back ominously, the comment accompanied by another instance of blazing green light. His wand-work picked up speed and he advanced, testing the witch’s limits. “It will be quite a shame really.” He started, tone sickly sweet and mocking. “Not only are you stunning, but resourceful too.”
“You would’ve been such a Slytherin.” He taunted, sending spells to punctuate his words. “If only you weren’t tainted by such worthless blood.”
She hadn’t fought this hard in what seemed like ages - having grown used to opponents who were easy to defeat, the man’s determination and skill came as a bit of a surprise to Lily. Still, she fought on, a mix of defensive and offensive spells firing from her wand, lighting the space between them as if they were fireworks.
The green light came hurtling towards her, and with a quick deflect of her wand, it bounced from her vicinity and went hurtling back towards him. Accompanied by her own curse, she was breathing heavily now, determined to come out of this on the winning end. Still, even with the mask, she could tell that her opponent was no fresh faced recent graduate. He had been fighting far longer than she had. “If only I could repay compliments. My mother told me it was the polite thing to do, but evidently, your kind are all cowards who would rather hide then let people see your true colors.”
“How kind of you to think of me in that way. Too bad it was never an interest of mine.” Her biting tone matched his own as another spell fired off.
