people think they shouldn't vote as a protest or whatever because they've been raised on boycotts. which do sometimes work.
boycotts deprive the target of money.
not voting does not deprive the government of money.
it does, however, deprive you of power.
it's not like a boycott.

[ID: a tweet from LouisatheLast that reads “Babysitting a 4 year old has me convinced that what video games need is ‘little buddy mode,’ where a kid can have a character that just jogs along with you and can help/ get their own encouraging score but cannot be harmed” End ID.]
*me at the club* so does anyone wanna discuss queer undertones in classic literature?
Which is better?
The Iliad
The Odyssey
My transition goal isn't to get surgery it's for Athena to pour attractiveness over me making me look taller and more handsome. I think that'd fix me
told my mom that a party i went to had no real food and she was absolutely horrified which just feels like a very jewish reaction to have. to be fair that was also my reaction to finding out there was no food which is equally jewish of me
L'shana tova to all my fellow dunmeshi jews!
disclaimer: chilchuck is not canonically jewish nor particularly jewish-inspired; i’m just calling dibs lol
[ID begins. Manga panel of a cheerful Chilchuck Tims, wearing a black vest and a hat reminiscent of a kippah. His speech bubbles have been edited to say "Chag sameach! Shana tova umetukah" in Hebrew script. A realistic plate of apple and honey has been edited in front of him. Superimposed all-caps pink glittery script reads: JEWISH CHILCHUCK WISHES YOU A SWEET AND HAPPY NEW YEAR. end ID]
What if the people Odysseus needed to seek on his oar quest were actually…the Lotus-eaters?
They only feasted on the Lotus—no salty food; they knew nothing of the sea and seafaring—maybe they were seeing it every day, but it’s not something they cared abt; they might not know winnowing but they might use shovels to plant Lotus for food…
Besides the Lotus-eaters were like the first thing they encountered when they sailed past the known world for them. And having his first encounter being the last encounter Odysseus will ever face, at the end of his journey, would only make it…cyclic poetic.
anyway since i’m on here (at least for the next like 10 minutes)
here’s some different ways to greet someone on rosh hashanah:
guy who has chronic pain and fatigue: man why can't i do more stuff
guy who has chronic pain and fatigue: man i'm so tired today for some reason
Rkgk for the few that asked for Odysseus and Argos content :3
reading the iliad is crazy bc it just wildly flip flops between divine sitcom, the horrors of war, the most beautiful description you've ever read and a list of names that could've been 20 items shorter but absolutely should not be
born to kvetch, forced to find nuance in all things & prioritize what’s worth the backlash for complaining about
Jewish culture is the extensive history of mental illness we never talk about and pretend isn't there 😐
