me and my mootie @invisiblesquirrel stayed on call for like an hour compiling this list of verbs and nouns pertaining to all things sex and bodies 🫶 hopefully it's helpful for whoever comes across this, it definitely will be helpful for us XD
*general categories are anatomy, actions, reactions, secretions
*note, we included any words we could think of, regardless of personal preference
*we didn't make specific categories for intersex genitalia under the assumption that people will mix and match as they please
btw you’re a pathetic bully with mean girl attitude if you screenshot other people’s fics to repost and mock them and the authors. you’re the reason fandoms become toxic when they’re supposed to be a comfort zone and a safe space for people. and you have the audacity to say it’s a shame more and more writers decided to no longer share their works. you’re harming fanfic community and you’re driving writers and fan artists—whose works you’re privileged enough to consume for free—away until the ones that are left are bullies like you. just because a fanfic is not for you doesn’t mean you have the rights to mock or shame it. not everything is made specifically to tailor to your personal liking. so disrespectfully, if you do this, grow tf up.
either respect fanfic writers and fan artists or be quiet.
some people don’t deserve fanfics, much less for free.
also even if authors didn’t tag any specific warnings but they used the “creator chose not to use archive warnings” tag, then that is your warning.
“omg you should’ve —” no one forced your entitled ass to read anything. fanfic writers write for themselves and their own enjoyment. if you don’t like what you’re reading, quietly leave. ao3 is not an airport. no one cares about your departure so no need to announce it.
Additionally, let's say the author didn't have it tagged when the reader began reading, but over time, the plot was driven to sex and the author changed/added later. It is the readers' responsibility to check the tags with each chapter update.
some people are really looking so hard for some morally correct excuses to harass other people and be bullies, and then they wonder why fandom becomes toxic and no one wants to post their fics or art anymore. it's just pathetic.
fanfic writers and fan artists do not owe anybody anything
I wanna start posting my wattpad fanfics on ao3 any tips for tagging and whatnot
My number one tip is to tag what's in the fic not what you want to be in the fic. I personally don't use a tag unless I have it in the fic or I know without a doubt it will be used. Something I find to be helpful is going to the "popular tags" page on Ao3.
https://archiveofourown.org/tags
I look through the tags and pick which ones fit best. Good luck!
You know who else uses certain stylistic choices "excessively"?
New writers who haven't found their happy medium yet.
If you looked at my handwritten stories twenty years ago and saw the amount of commas, semi-colons, and "It wasn't x, it was y" I used, would you assume that's AI too?
I'm not saying there are no AI works out there. There are. However, what you see as "excessive" could very well be a new writer learning to write.
Seeing they have three em dashes in one paragraph does not mean it is AI. You CANNOT know despite how all-knowing you think you are.
Humans don't write like AI.
AI writes like humans.
Yes, it's scary that we can't tell when something is AI, but continued accusations are only going to stop real writers from writing, leaving ONLY AI works, and that is scarier than anything else.
things I won’t let ai take away from human writers
em dash
“not x, not y, but z”
short sentence stacking as a stylistic choice
none of these belong to ai. these are all what human writers have been writing since day one, way before ai was invented. ai was trained to mimic how human writers write — so em dash, not x not y but z and short sentence stacking would never have been used by ai at all if ai hadn’t learned and mimicked them from human writers.
no, you are not “fighting against ai” by accusing every work that has em dash, not x not y but z or short sentence stacking in it as ai-generated, you are helping ai harm the writing community by engaging in witch hunt and scaring human writers away from creating/sharing their works for fear of being wrongly accused of using ai.
speculations, accusations and ai witch hunt harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not more.
