Wanderclan Lore:
Wanderclan was formed by cats who were all running from something in their lives, who found strength and companionship in each other. Some members are explicitly guided to Wanderclan through dreams and omens from StarClan.
Wanderclan lives in a rocky, overgrown patch of cedar and oak trees, with most dens being made of previously existing rocks, constructed into a den with branches and brambles. The leader’s den is in one of the higher rock crevices, where they can look over the whole clan. To announce news to the clan, the leader climbs to a stable branch on one of the central oak trees. The location of their StarClan connection is a flat, windswept area on a nearby mountain. This area is always shrouded in fog, despite the weather. Wanderclan refers to it as the Starledge.
Whenever a new member joins Wanderclan, they have to do an apprenticeship under a current warrior for a few moons, no matter their age or experience. This ensures that almost all clan members understand how Wanderclan operates, and can teach useful skills to younger, less experienced cats.
How do warrior names work in Wanderclan?
The usual warrior name formatting applies, Prefix-Suffix, unless that specific cat chooses to keep their previous name.
At Warrior Ceremonies, apprentices make the journey up to the Starledge (Starclan contact place) with their Leader and Medicine Cat to decide their name. The apprentice can: choose their suffix themself, ask for Starclan to give them a suffix, choose to have no suffix, or change their prefix and suffix. (Basically, apprentices have two naming ceremonies, one with Starclan and one with their clan)
Warriors can choose to change their name at any time, but must visit the Starledge to inform Starclan of the change.
Generally, apprentices cannot change their name until their warrior ceremony, unless the Medicine Cat or Leader determines that keeping the old name any longer is harmful to the apprentice. (This usually only applies to prefixes, as suffixes are usually seen as "earned" through the completion of warrior training.)
Leaders still have to take the suffix "star" once they receive their nine lives.
