do men have resting bitch faces as well or do they not have negative characteristics ascribed to them for putting on a neutral rather than a deliriously happy facial expression
Yes, Black men in majority white spaces do. If I don’t smile every single second of the day my coworkers become in intimidated and start asking me what’s wrong, telling me to smile, make jokes about how I’m trying to be a thug/act hard, why am I angry, etc. And it’s not just white men at my job God FORBID I my large Black ass makes a white girl feel threaten because I’m sitting down with a neutral expression.
I’m not trying to take this post away from women and make it about Black men but I want to point out that wether it’s patriarchy or white supremacy; those who feel as if they have power over you HATE to see you not smile. They are so used to people like you smiling to gain their approval that when you don’t there’s a cognitive dissonance that makes them extremely uncomfortable.
That’s why “angry Black women” is a thing. They have to put on a smile for everyone (yes even feminist white women) or we all get uncomfortable.
This is such an amazing response.
“Stoic Indian” is literally an anti-Indigienous stereotype that all Native American people have severe and stormy neutral expressions and that it’s impossible to get them to smile (or that their culture is so backwards that smiling is a threat) (no literally just because *some* Native people don’t smile with teeth it’s interpreted as *all* Native people being unable to smile at all). Like. This is a documented and well known problem that many, many Native groups discuss, that still goes on to this day.
Government officials just dont get assassinated anymore like they used to
if you need fewer than 8 hrs of sleep keep that shit to yourself. or do one better and simply lie and say that 8+ hrs of sleep is necessary for you. if you’re out here loudly bragging about ur 4 hour sleep maximum i consider you an oppressor. best case scenario is people clap for you and feel jealous. worst case scenario you signal to the capitalist dogs that we should all try to be like you. the risk is too great and the reward too little
he really did put it into words for me
dinosaur sprinkles. look at this post with your eyes if you agree
evil....
in the cambrian period the ocean was shallow and the sun never set. every day was sunday morning and there was never any dark. the world was a watery wonderland and air didnt exist yet. animals had just invented eating eachh other and it was really funny. having eyeballs was all the rage
its true ❤
what do you know ❤
the ocean was made of sprite also
theres been a lot of people on this post trying to correct basically every aspect of what ive said but nobody's confronted me on "everyday was sunday morning"
everybody agrees everyday was sunday morning
will never forget when i worked in a fast food joint. some customer wrote like “86 cherries” on their mobile order, as like a pretentious way of say no cherries, but the store was run by a bunch of high schoolers who are working their first job so they collectively went “why the fuck does this guy want 86 fucking cherries” and like piled them onto his milkshake
so when i made this i didn’t expect ANY notes so i feel like an asshole now for not explaining. so incase you check the notes, 86 in restaurant terms means “unavailable or out of stock” but has kinda morphed into “omit” or “leave out”. but none of us had worked in a restaurant before, also why would you not just say “no cherries” it’s the same amount of characters to type
Man ordering food: I work in the restaurant business ;)
Children working at restaurant: this guy must really like cherries. Got something in your eye there sir
Hi all -- newbies in particular, and newbies from tiktok extra in particular...
Please be aware that if you are tagging sensitive topics for the sake of other people's blacklists, you NEED TO SPELL THE WORD CORRECTLY.
Lets use the word "yellow" as an example. Let's say the word yellow means something horrible, and many people might want to filter it so that they don't see posts that mention or discuss anything to do with the word yellow.
If you tag the potentially triggering post as "y3llow" or "ye11ow" or "yell0w," then youre actually circumventing most peoples block lists. Youre making your post highly difficult to avoid by anyone who doesn't want to see that word. People have to add every possible spelling combination of the word "Y3770w" to their block lists, and even then, some that they haven't thought of will slip through their blocklist net and will give them an unpleasant surprise.
But if you just tag the post simply as "yellow," correctly spelled and with no creative letter replacements, then all anyone needs to do to avoid ever seeing that content is to add the word yellow to their blocklist.
For the love of God, PLEASE stop censoring sensitive topics in the tags. Youre not helping; youre actively hindering anyone who is trying to avoid potentially triggering topics.
Yes! I think this comes from the fact that other social media gets your account banned for using certain words but that doesn't happen here. Nobody gets banned on this website unless you're a bot or a porn blog and you've been actively reported by someone for it.
my dad taught me history in high school (all girls, private, catholic school) and one of my absolute favorite things about him was that, unlike every other teacher I had, he was never calm when a bee or, more accurately, a hornet or yellowjacket, flew in the window. he would stop whatever he was doing, reach for a book or rolled up piece of paper, and say with great dramatic flair, “ladies, the enemy is here.”
its suck my motherfucking dick sunday
I wish lesbians were as easy to find in real life as they are on tumblr

the fact that the original post was made back in 2012 and the 1-year-old baby update was as recent as 2021, the development and plot that happened within this post in an almost nine year timespan …this person truly Won tumblr

Y'all in the notes acting like this happened in the span of like a month when the orignal post was made in 2012 and they got married in 2018, that’s not fast that’s a lovely relationship
Trickle down therapy, when one person in your friend group is able to get therapy, and teaches the rest of the group some of the strategies they have learned
People making typos in groupchats and then getting whaled on is extremely funny unless I am the one making the typo, in which case you guys are not funny and being very immature
Let’s talk about it
Also remember a lot of people who are poor now were once not poor. When I was struggling financially, I had super nice clothes because my highschool aged self decided to buy a lot of nice clothes, and my late teens poverty stricken self benefited from those previous choices.
Furthermore, sometimes nice looking clothes are very cheap/fast fashion and are just well taken care of by the clothing owner. I have multiple pieces that are several years old and cost me less money than a burger.
Not only this, but people give clothes away all the time. I literally get given a bag of clothes once or twice a year from friends and whatnot.
Having nice clothes doesn’t mean you spent your last hundred dollars on clothes rather than food, it just means that nice clothes are currently in your possession.
And if you did spend your last hundred dollars on clothes, it’s probably a sign that clothes make you feel more human than nutritious food, which is just another symptom of poverty.
there are literally charities that exist solely to ensure people have quality outfits that fit for purposes of wearing to interviews with potential employers, because so many potential employers preemptively refuse to consider hiring someone who looks too poor
the thing that a lot of western leftists seem to struggle to even consider is that there is a long long history of resistance and insurrection and social change that has nothing to do with the united states or europe or christianity, that you can’t cast an entire country as a purely good or bad actor without erasing the existence of dissidents within that country with their own values and beliefs that you don’t have the context to understand as an outsider. you can’t just invert everything in the dominant narrative that you’re familiar with (usa bad, enemies of usa good) because then you’re still operating under the assumption that everything is about you
