The problem is that a Kim & Harry and Mulder & Scully world swap would go off without a hitch and switching partners would be fine in every constellation except Scully/Harry because Scully would not subject herself to that. Kim and Scully reach a degree of flawless cooperation that borders on psychic with the near-optimised intellectual synergy between them (only they lack a less grounded perspective). Kim and Mulder are probably doing great but images of them desiring each other carnally are interfering with the headcanoning process (lie. It’s functioning flawlessly). Harry and Mulder have probably already been coworkers at the X-Files div at some point in the past. Scully meets Harry and within 5 minutes is already drafting a list in her mind of ways to get him fired and potentially incinerated. She catches herself daydreaming a little about him being found dead of combined cirrhosis/heart attack in his residence within the week
