The smallest domino is the Assassination of RFK

In 1968, Senator Robert F. Kennedy (Bobby Kennedy) was assassinated for his support of Israel by a Palestinian man, Sirhan Sirhan.

Because of his father's tragic death and his family's legacy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. grew up in the political spotlight. Decades later, he aligned with the Trump administration and was appointed as the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).

As part of government funding cuts in July 2025, the administration and HHS Secretary RFK Jr. dramatically scaled back a crucial CDC program called FoodNet that actively monitored foodborne outbreaks.

FoodNet went from tracking eight major foodborne pathogens down to just two.

One of the pathogens they stopped tracking at the federal level was a microscopic parasite called Cyclospora.

Because the federal government stopped tracking the parasite, health departments lacked coordinated, day-to-day data to catch early warning signs.

This made the outbreak harder to detect and contain early. Without early detection and containment, the parasite spread rapidly through contaminated produce, causing weeks of violent, explosive, watery diarrhea as it spread.

The last domino is Michigan being hit the hardest by this outbreak, going from ~50 cases a year to thousands of confirmed infections.

I have been thinking a lot about Abdul Al-Sayed's "Hurt people hurt people" defense of the car ramming of Michigan's Temple Israel. And I just. It is SO dehumanizing of Jews. In that framework, we legitimately are not seen as hurt people. We are seen as dehumanized and objectified military targets.

Because let's break this down. "Hurt people hurt people." So the car rammer is a hurt person. I get that. Putting ideology and world views aside, the loss of family is always traumatic. I have a horrible, horrendous, piece of shit uncle. It will still hurt, in it's own way, when he dies.

But it's the fact that "hurt people hurt people" is ONLY extended to people who -- legitimately or otherwise -- view themselves as victims of the current Israeli government.

But...what about the victims of Arab aggression and colonization and imperialism? What about the Jews violently ethnically cleansed from surrounding Arab countries to the point where there are tons of "The Last Jew in <Insert Arab Country Here>" articles and thinkpieces. Are those Jews not hurt people? Are those Jews not people?

When it comes to I/P, I hear the refrain "Someone needs to stop punching back first" a lot. And in general, I do agree with that. At a certain point, someone gets the last punch and the other party doesn't get to retaliate.

But over the decades, Israeli leadership has time and time again gone "We will take that last punch. If it means we ultimately get to live, we will take that last punch gladly. Just let us live."

And then the rest of the world goes "No, actually, we'd really like to just keep punching you. Only, you keep that promise to not punch back."

And I just...hurt people hurt people, right Dr. Al-Sayed? Or does that only apply to those you see as people?

This has been driving me insane because this quote is so incredibly Jewish but every time I saw it was completely divorced from Judaism in the version applying it to 'transsexual'.

The original concept that humans complete the act of creation by making bread from wheat is from the Talmud! And the specific "wheat but not bread, grapes but not wine" phrasing is from Jewish theologian Abraham Heschel but it is missing "clay but not bricks".

And among trans Jews the sentiment was already popular before I ever started seeing this specific phrasing so I knew, knew, knew a Jew and likely a trans Jew was involved.

As it happens, Ortberg's friend Julian is Jewish and they have strongly negative feelings about the way the quote has been removed from the context of their life as someone trans and Jewish. They used to have a thread up on xwitter about it but have since made their account private and only have a very terse FAQ online from which you can glean the treatment they likely received when being more open about their Jewishness, relationship to transness, and the interaction of both.

The Golem: What is it, really?

In Jewish folklore and mysticism, the Golem is an animated being crafted from mud or clay and brought to life through sacred words, letters, and ritual. Rather than just a folklore monster, the Golem represents a profound spiritual mirror: a symbol of human potential, the dangers of unbridled creation, and the delicate balance of the universe.

In Kabbalah, creating a Golem was the ultimate test of a mystic’s spiritual alignment and mastery over the universe's building blocks.

Ancient texts teach that the universe was created out of the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet, viewed as spiritual DNA or cosmic energy channels. To create a Golem, a mystic walked in precise circles around the clay shape, chanting specific combinations of these letters. If the mystic made even a single error in pronunciation or intention, the ritual could fail catastrophically, turning the destructive energy back on the creator.

Traditionally, the Golem is brought to life by writing the Hebrew word Emet (אמת - Truth) on its forehead. To deactivate the Golem, the first letter (Aleph) is erased, leaving the word Met (מת - Dead). Truth is the ultimate animating spark of the universe, and the line between vitality and absolute nothingness is incredibly thin.

While a Golem can move, follow orders, and protect, it lacks a Neshama (the higher, divine soul) and speech. It possesses only Nefesh, the basic animalistic life force. Lacking a moral compass or emotional intelligence, it acts as a raw, unfiltered mirror of its creator’s psyche. If the creator is motivated by fear or anger, the Golem inevitably manifests that chaos.

On a personal level, the Golem represents our raw impulses, anger, and defense mechanisms. We often build emotional armor (a Golem) to protect ourselves from trauma or external threats. But if we leave that protective anger running on autopilot without mindfulness, it eventually grows too big to control and begins to destroy our inner peace and relationships.

i think hamas and hezbollah and the irgc and basically every terrorist organization hellbent on killing the jews makes a little more sense or is at least more morbidly interesting to look at when you view it under the lens of them being people who just don't know how much power they've lost. because the arab conquests happened so long ago that landback people refuse to acknowledge that colonization happened in the first place, and in that time across the entire world really there were basically zero consequences for oppressing jews. nul. efes. because sure there was that occasional pesky uprising but anyone but jews caring about antisemitism is a very very recent historical development. and at the end of the day these groups are religious extremists, and religious extremists more often than not are people so conservative they're basically stuck in the middle ages. so like yeah they're aware that the jews have a state and an army now and all that but just by the osmosis of the kind of culture they live in and absorb jews are still viewed as something very destructible. a century or two ago you could commit a massacre, you could commit many massacres against jews and walk away relatively unscathed. but now jews have actual agency in the world and we have the power to retaliate, retaliate hard even, and that simply doesn't register to the islamist mind. it doesn't compute.

Something similar occurred when Barack Obama was elected president. His success angered many people who believed black people were inherently inferior as he was a shining example of their inherently flawed logic. His position of power was antithetical to their racist beliefs.

So many of them acted out and committed racist acts, leading to an apparent increase in racism.

When people act in opposition to bigotry it invokes anger and violence.

This anger and violence is never justified and it is not the fault of the victim, it is always the fault of the bigot.
