Very true and real advice... "Things you need to know before falling in love with a girl who travels"
One of my favorites, @malurpal, taking a moment to reflect during a day spent exploring the #citywall of #Nanjing, #China (#南京城墙). Originally built by the #MingDynasty when Nanjing served as the capital city, as it did for various dynasties and the original republic, the wall has been pretty well preserved over its 600+ year history. You can easily walk it in a day and continue just a little way beyond to reach the #purplemountain, where you can hike or cable car to the top for awesome views. Definitely get directions prior. Although the walk isn't long, the path from the end of the wall to the mountain isn't really easy to navigate. Thankfully I had my trusty Chinese speaking travel partner @mal with me. So excited to be reunited with this gorgeous gal very soon! You can learn more about the wall at http://www.cityofnanjing.com/article/the-ming-great-wall-of-nanjing/ (at Nanjing City Wall)
Prayer candles lit at #NotreDame #Cathedral in Paris. May 19, 2015 -------------------------------------------- I pray that in the wake of this tragedy, we do not allow fear to win. Let us not punish the innocent for the wicked's actions. Surely the history of our nation has taught us that the right choices are rarely the easy ones. The goodness of humanity must outshine the darkness if we are to thrive. Refusing the refugees, turning away the innocent, is succumbing terror. Let us stand together as citizens of the world and refuse to let the terrorists succeed in their crusade to instill fear and turn us against one another. I pray that we don't allow fear to dictate our choices, that instead we fight back with courage and goodness even in the face of terrorism and danger. For only kindness and goodness can truly put an end to the hatred and violence of terrorism. #StandwithFrance #prayforpeace (at Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris)

After fifteen months of travel, I returned to the United States ready to give American life another try. Within months, I had changed my mind.
"Life in the United States is generally only about the United States. This is reflected in everything from American travel habits to American media to American curriculum in schools. But life in other countries is about the world."After moving back to the U.S., I definitely noticed this difference.
I would like to be able to gently drift in and out of existence when I wanted to.

I feel like travel allows me to drift in and out of ‘my reality’. Maybe that is why I love it so much. Not an escape necessarily, just a different perspective of my own existence.

Tourists explore the terraces of #PrasatBayon on a beautiful day in #AngkorArcheologicalPark. 🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭 Ok, last favorite from Bayon, but can you blame me? Truly a #wonderoftheworld. My photos can't even come close to the majesty it exudes in person. I promise I'll try to move on to the many other wonderful sights of #SiemReap tomorrow. ----------------------------------------- #wanderwithkasey #exploretheworld #sharetravelpics #natgeotravelpic #wanderfolk #travel #travels #travelstoke #Cambodia #traveldeeper (at Bayon)
Looking up at the gorgeous towers of the #BayonTemple or #PrasatBayon.... This temple is widely known for its towers depicting faces. The faces were at one time believed to symbolize a Hindu deity, but it was later discovered to be a Buddhist temple originally. Many of the temples were changed throughout the years to reflect the preferred views of the current king. It is now mostly believed to symbolize Lokeshvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion; however, some would argue that they are actually depictions of the king himself. (at Prasat Bayon)
Realized today that I had some awesome pics from #SiemReap that I had never posted, so I'm going to try and share one each day this week. If you have been following me a while, you know that #Cambodia is one of my favorite places that I have traveled and a place I plan to return to soon. This is a favorite shot from a beautiful day we had in Siem Reap exploring #AngkorArcheologicalPark. ----------------------------------------- #wanderwithkasey #travel #explore #exploretheworld #adventure #travelpics#travelinspiration#travelphotograhy #wanderlust #natgeotravel #natgeotravelpic #lonelyplanet #liveauthentic #livefolk #wanderfolk #travelblog #lifeonthemove #wander #travelstoke #journey #spreadthevibe #instatravel #travelgram #yourstoexplore #traveldeeper #travels #traveling #spreadthevibe #travellife #potd (at Angkor Thom)

As soon as we set off on our hike from #Vernazza to #Monterosso, we ran into these guys happily serenading us as we started our little journey. Cliché and touristy or not, it really gave off that #Italiancoast vibe. The idealist in me would like to think they would've been playing like this if the #CinqueTerre was still just a group of unknown finishing villages. #beautifulplaces #travelmoments #italy #traveleurope #wanderwithkasey
Beautiful #Prague along the river... #wanderwithkasey #Eurotrip (at Prague Old Town)
View over a stone 'map' from the #VyšehradCastle park in #Prague. More of a fortress, this 'castle' houses the oldest building in Prague, a beautiful cathedral, huge green areas, great views, and many other cool old buildings and relics. Definitely a #mustsee if your visiting Prague! I preferred it to the very touristy #PragueCastle which you can see in the top right corner of this photo. Both are worth a visit if you have the time, but if your on a tight schedule, go for Vyšehrad. #travelPrague #wanderwithkasey #traveltips #traveleurope #traveldeeper #wanderfolk #traveltolearn #travel

Both because I watched a special on one of my favorite places recently and in honor of #WorldRefugeeDay, I decided to post this photo today. Now, this little girl is not a refugee; however, she is a #Cambodian. A country whose recent history did cause many citizens to seek refuge in other countries, those that were lucky enough to escape before the Khmer Rouge took power. The majority of citizens that remained experienced genocide, famine, forced labor, and numerous other cruelties at this government's hand. When I was in Cambodia I fell in love with their welcoming nature and was overwhelmed by their desire to share their history and culture. I was reminded while watching the special how even more amazing that is, considering the past and even the current state of things in the country. It is easy to sweep the discussion of #refugees safety and well being under the rug, especially since many of us remain unaffected and if we choose, unaware of their suffering. It must be addressed. Not just by governments trying to come up with the most economic, political, and hopefully humane solution as to how to keep them out or divide them up among countries. We, as citizens of the world, need to be active in the discussion and try to place ourselves in their shoes. This sweet little girl could have easily been a refugee had she been born at a different time, and many like her likely were. Worse, many had to remain in a country plagued first by war, then by the the government that brought them 'peace'. Cambodia just happens to be a country that I have visited and loved, so that's why I chose to share this photo in particular. However, many countries around the world are still experiencing extreme unrest. Citizens of the world are still living in constant instability. They are seeking refuge. Will we continue to turn a blind eye to their suffering?
A moment of reflection overlooking the #canal after visiting the #AnneFrankHouse. The museum is neat enough, you get to tour the hidden 'house' where the family and their friends stayed hidden all those months, and at the end you get to view some of their personal items, including the diary. Admittedly, I'm not sure if the 'museum' is worth the hours of waiting you usually have to endure to enter this popular tourist stop; however, the thought provoking experience of reflecting on and learning more about such a dark time in history is always worthwhile. I kept thinking throughout the entire tour that the place was so BIG. How could such a large area be kept secret? Then I realized how small the place must have seemed once filled with the families and the few belongings they were able to bring, how small any place could seem if you were cooped up in it for months with no sight of the outside world, and how small I felt for thinking initially that it was so big. #Travel to learn, to learn more about the world and to learn more about yourself.
Quite an interesting #streetperformer that we spotted in #Prague's #OldTownSquare. This 'baby' just cried and made silly faces until people made him happy (by paying him usually) then he would laugh and clap. For the few minutes we were there, I never heard him speak. Interestingly, it seemed like he was still doing pretty well in terms of income. The loose link to a court jester seemed pretty appropriate for the classic feel of #OldTown, but this was definitely one of the more unique performances I've seen in all the places I've traveled so far.
