Stirling Castle, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Stirling Castle is one of the most important and strategically significant castles in Scotland. Located on a high volcanic rock, it overlooks key routes across the country, which made it a crucial military stronghold during the Middle Ages.

The castle played a major role during the Scottish Wars of Independence in the 13th and 14th centuries. It frequently changed hands between Scottish and English forces.

It is also closely associated with important historical figures such as Mary, Queen of Scots, who was crowned there in 1543. Over time, the castle evolved from a military fortress into a royal residence, showcasing impressive Renaissance architecture.

Today, Stirling Castle is one of Scotland’s most popular tourist attractions and a symbol of Scottish history and heritage.

The Library of the Abbey of St. Gall, Switzerland, contains over 170,000 books and documents, most notably a valuable collection of manuscripts from the 8th to the 10th centuries.

It was rebuilt between 1758 and 1767 and is considered a masterpiece of Central European Rococo architecture.
