Time capsule: Elizabeth Taylor (with her second husband, Michael Wilding) visiting Madrid, Spain, in the early â50s
You know youâre fucking with the right person when you donât have to do anything to keep them interested other than just being you.
On the morning of 28 August, 1981, police in North Yorkshire received an anonymous phone call from a man detailing where they could find a âdecomposed body.â True to his word, police discovered the naked body of a middle aged woman, hidden in a patch of rose bay willow herb. It was established that the deceased woman was between 38 to 40 years old, was approximately 5âČ2âł, had dark hair, and had given birth to at least three children in her lifetime. She had been dead for up to two years; however the cause of death could not be determined. Since nobody was coming forward to identify the woman, a wax head was created from her likeness, thus earning her the moniker âWax Head Woman.â Despite numerous theories and leads, the identity of this luckless woman and her cause of death was never uncovered. âThe whole thing was very sad and it is still a great disappointment to me that we could never put a name to her,â said a veteran detective who worked on the case.
The cult classic film, The Crow, follows the story of Eric Draven, a man who comes back from the dead to execute the gang who murdered him and his fiance. Director Alex Proyas gave the film a distinctive gothic look similar to the empire of the original âBatmanâ movies. Unfortunately, however, during filming there was a tragedy which cost a member of the main cast his life. Brandon Lee - son of Bruce Lee - played the character of Eric Draven. During shooting, Lee was shot and killed while filming a scene in which his character was shot and killed. This scene was removed and instead, Draven is thrown to his death from a window.
In the scene, Michael Massee fires a .44 Magnum revolver at Lee as he enters the room to find his girlfriend being beaten and raped by the gang. The gun had been loaded with blank rounds which feature a live powder charge and primer but no bullet. However, earlier in the day the crew had created their own dummy cartridges by dumping the powder charge from live rounds and then reinserting the bullets. Somebody then left the live primer at the rear of the cartridge. This caused the bullet to be fired with the same force as a live round. Lee was shot in the abdomen. He was rushed to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he died from his injuries.
Following his untimely death, another $8 million was added to the $15 million budget so that the film could be completed. Portions of the film had to be rewritten and scenes were added by using computer graphics. The Crow was subsequently tainted as being the movie in which Brandon Lee tragically lost his life. Despite the tragedy, it swiftly became a cult classic, grossing over $50 million in the US on its release.
Cassidy Goodson was 14-years-old when she became pregnant with her first baby. Instead of telling her parents, Cassidy decided to hide the fact she was pregnant; she wore baggy clothes and even handed her mother bogus pregnancy tests that showed she wasnât pregnant.
When she was ready to give birth, Cassidy used a pair of scissors to âpry the baby outâ and subsequently delivered her baby - a little boy - in the toilet of the home she shared with her parents. Afterwards, she strangled the newborn boy to death. âIts eyes werenât open but I felt to see if it was breathing or not, and it was breathing so I put my hands around its throat to make it stop breathing,â she confessed to police. When asked what motive she had, Cassidy told police she was afraid of disappointing her parents and afraid of getting in trouble. After killing her newborn son, Cassidy hid his body in a shoebox in her bedroom. After three days, Cassidyâs mother, Teresa Goodson, started to smell the decomposition and made the grisly discovery.
Following Cassidyâs arrest, Teresa was asked why she was unaware of her daughterâs pregnancy to which she replied she thought her daughter was just gaining weight. âHonestly, if I would have known, this would have never happened,â she said. Rumours had circulated around the school that Cassidy was pregnant and the father of the baby - a classmate - questioned Cassidy. Initially, she confessed before telling the boy she was only joking around and that âeven if she was, she would not have kids with him.âÂ
Cassidy Goodson was sentenced to just 18 months in a state facility.

Throughout the 1970âČs, Rodney Alcala brutally raped and murdered at least eight women in New York and California. It is believed that he may have killed as many as 130 women due to the thousands of photographs of unidentified women found inside his home. He would post as a Playboy photographer and would take photographs of his victims before and after killing them.
In 1978, Alcala appeared on the TV show, The Dating Game. The purpose of the game was that a contestant could interview three eligible bachelors who were hidden behind a screen and then she had to choose a winner. Alcala won, but fortunately Cheryl Bradshaw, the contestant, Â refused a date with him because she found him âcreepyâ after meeting him backstage.
