In the end it doesn’t matter if you won or lost, it matters what you learned for next time. Because we always get faced with the same challenges again. And all we care about is if we’ll get through it this time, not how it turned out last time.
Let me just tell you- if you have to wonder whether or not he’s going to text you back, he’s not the one for you. If he doesn’t want to have a conversation with you when he knows you can’t meet up with him, he’s also not the one. If he can’t hang out with you because he has friends in town, he’s not the one. Because the one will want to introduce you to his friends. The one will text you during the first 2 minutes of down time he has during a crazy day at work. The one will text you goodnight even if he knows you’re already asleep. And the one- the real one for you- won’t ever leave you wondering if he actually cares.
I can’t sleep in the dark when I’m alone. I used to be able to but I can’t anymore and I don’t know why. I also know there are people who can’t drive over bridges and people who can’t take elevators. Which tells me that we all have ridiculous fears that sometimes make us hate ourselves because we realize they’re irrational, yet we can’t overcome them. But I think knowing that other people are out there dealing with that same exact fear and understanding what it’s like and trying so hard to handle it, just like you are- well, I think that makes it a tiny, tiny bit better.
