just saw a tiktok with the worst collection of emmerdale opinions i think i've ever seen. literally "serena's boring and dragging the john storyline on" and "kev's the best character in ages with good character development" and "mackity > vanity" and "cain's storylines are great" and "kevbert > robron because robron don't have chemistry anymore"

I know it's not likely since Aaron is a stranger. But I want Seb to be close with Aaron while struggling to form a relationship with Robert.

yes and rob is also a stranger, there's no reason other than biology for them to be close. if anything, the pressures of an assumed essential father/son dynamic might put mote pressure on their relationship than with aaron, who doesn't have that same pressure. plus kids love aaron. he's canonically practically a disney princess, kids and animals love him, and i'm sure seb will too.

that being said, i flit in between wanting an interesting and nuanced developing relationship between aaron and seb and wanting aaron and seb to always get along. i've said it before but rob finding it easier to get along with seb at first but their relationship is maybe shallower or more conditional and then aaron comes in when they're on the rocks.

I can't wait for teen Seb to show up in the village. He needs to find out how long his dad has been out of prison but hasn't done anything to get in touch with him. But he gives others parenting advice and is obsessing over farming.

me too. the radio silence on seb is so frustrating, i can't wait until he's at least a topic of conversation again, but if we have to wait until he's a teenager, i'd love for him to hate robert's guts for it. be another lachlan, go completely psycho over his dad not wanting anything to do with him. he's both a sugden and a white, it's in his genes to be a bit crazy wrt his family and i'm sure the dingles would be more than happy to be bad influences.

I miss his suits so much. It shouldn't annoy me so much seeing what a person wears but it does when it comes to Robert now.

i miss his suits too :( they felt like they had a bit of personality to them. ik he's a farmer now but he should be out cutting deals with supermarkets and other businesses all dressed up in a suit, whilst leaving all the heavy work to a team of farmhands he enjoys bossing about maybe a little too much. but ig it's symbolic that as he's lost his personality, he's also lost his style and business sense.

Robert does dress like a frumpy grandpa but I honestly can't think of any male character who dresses fashionably and contemporary other than Joe Tate who has the best wardrobe on the show. Every other male character's clothes are bland, unremarkable or scruffy. They do seem to make a bit more of an effort with the female characters' wardrobes though.

i don't pay much attention tbh. i think there's maybe an overabundance of polo shirts among the men, which robert is very much a victim of and which is about as bland as you can get. and i agree, the women's clothes are much better, but women do tend to dress better than men anyway so i think it's true to life.

i also think robert dresses old for his age and aaron dresses young. the fleeces and jackets versus hoodies and puffers and blues versus blacks for example. which has a whole host of interesting character implications wrt how aaron is often treated as a child whilst robert has taken on the mantle of his father.
