friendly reminder that having fancy formatting / small text / edited icons / container theme / having a lot of followers / following all ’ quality ’ blogs does NOT make you ’ quality ’, whatever that means nowadays. it’s like rping isn’t even about writing for fun anymore, it’s about competing to see who has the best *aesthetics*. like jfc… like doing all those fancy things isn’t bad ( hell i do the fancy things ) but thinking you’re more ’ quality ’ than others just because of that… then you need to reevaluate why you rp in the first place. rping is NOT a competition. it is for FUN.
Christmas Morning
"I’m coming, coming!" laughed their father behind two boys. When he reached them he was very astonished to see the plane flying in a more elegant way.
Adding a chuckle to himself, since he realized something shortly after that. “Ha, that’s my boy. Well done, Charlie! Seems like your piloting lessons paid off very well.”
"Thanks, dad! Okay, will be back in a moment." excused Charles before he departed.
Olgilvie nodded briefly before he joined Jules’s fun, petting carefully the other’s head so Jules wouldn’t jerk himself in controlling.
Every so often as Jules piloted his RC plane he would be quite close to hitting a nearby tree, but he noticed quickly and averted the direction of the plane. It flew around them, causing Jules to snicker in amusement.
His eagerness to fly a real plane was growing. Not too long ago, he was promised that he would be taught how to pilot one; boy, he couldn't wait!
Outside with his father, for approximately 20 minutes or more the RC plane's battery started to die down and almost dropped to the ground if Olgilvie hadn't took control. Although he wanted to play with it more, Jules started to feel the effects of the bitter cold. His fingers were numb! Perhaps they should go inside now...
Christmas Morning
"Eh, it won’t be necessary, trust me." said Charles with a tiny reassured smile before he took a look at the buttons.
"Let’s see what we got here… Accelerator side-flying trim, indicator, mode, exit, LCD displayer, speed switch, joystick for forward and backward, left and right, upward and downward…" With that he smirked as he began piloting. The spectacle started! Whooohooo!
Without any miraculous mistakes the plane seemed just fine in its flight, even after taking off rapidly into air!
At the sight of his plane finally soaring properly into the air, Jules gave a joyous laugh and hugged his brother quickly before taking back the controller to pilot it. His piloting skills proved to be quite messy but every once in awhile he would receive aid from his older brother on how to steer properly... without hitting nearby obstacles. When Charles was showing him an example, Jules looked over his shoulder and called out his dad in excitement. He was missing all of this!
Christmas Morning
Once arrived behind the house, Charles looked around making sure some spots for both departing and landing were safely alright. Not too bad for a worth try. Then he began watching his little bro before he yawned a bit. C’mon, where’s dad already?
His ears immediately perked up at the sound of propellers. “Perhaps, as for starters, you should read some instructions.” advised Charles before he extended his hand toward the other, signaling him to hand over him the controller.
He puffed out his cheeks in annoyance, but handed over the controller anyway. Jules knew Charles was some kind of geek when it came to fixing things so he trusted him enough to see what exactly had been wrong with his "pilot skills" .
"I left the instructions inside..." He mumbled under his breath, kicking at the ground in shame.
Christmas Morning
Fortunately, it didn’t take too long for Charles to get well-ready for going outside. After that he lazily followed Jules untill he finally was outside only to find the bright sunlight bothering his sleepy vision a bit.
"Argh!" he blinked a bit shielding his eyes a bit. Looks like the sun finally came back after a while of cloudy weather. He wasn’t too content about that but he would keep an eye on his little bro untill their father is finally back.
His face brightened up at the sight of his brother joining him, finally. Bubbling with excitement he prepared his new RC plane - asking Charles for assistance with the batteries for the controller. He then lead Charles toward the back of the house where there was more patches of snow melting away, settling the plane down on the ground, he took a few steps back, staring at the controller. He moved a trigger on the left-hand-side and the plane moved forward, its propellers spun rapidly.
He squeaked in excitement and moved the other trigger that was on the right of the controller. The propellers suddenly stopped spinning. "Huh...? What did I do wrong?"
Christmas Morning
"Why me?" huffed Charles to himself slightly as he dragged himself into living-room just to take his new overcoat, but when he was about to Jules tugged excitedly at his arm.
"Uhhhhh, how ‘bout you tell your girly legs to calm down first?" advised Charles trying to balance himself as the other kept hopping up and down. at same time
Jules puffed out his cheeks in annoyance for his brother being so slow. It soon dawned on him that he needed to put on his boots before going outdoors anyway. If he went outside in the cold with only socks his father would no doubt pull him back inside.
Releasing his grip on his brother, Jules found his shoes and slipped them on, then sprinted towards the door to open it. He stepped out a little, the wind was brisk but he didn't care; he was simply tickled that he was outside!

Christmas Morning
While Jules was so preoccupied with eating, the older hedgehog raised his own glass filled with red wine to toast with his elder son with a small clang.
“Merry Christmas everyone!" he greeted them with a kindhearted smile. How much he wished Clarice was still there just to celebrate together, though….
"You too, dad! And you too, Julie." Charles snickered at that sissy nickname before he took a small sip of it. It really didn’t matter if his age wasn’t legal yet, but fortunately he could drink any types of drink unless it’s a related holiday. To be honest, the red wine wasn’t one of his favorite beverages but it would be one day when he was enough older.
Shortly after when they began enjoying their meal, their father gave a stern glare at Jules for being mouthful but he wouldn’t dare scold, of course. Truthfully, it was difficult to discipline his manners properly, especially when the tasks like that were being given only to him in the place of their mother.
"Uh, dad… I don’t think I can eat anymore…." whispered Charles as he pushed away the plate with some rest of food. It made him so full even though he only ate half that he wanted to sleep right now so bad. In response to him Olgilvie nodded in understatement then glanced back at Jules.
"Alright. Go with Chuck." he merely chuckled still continuing his breakfast. "I will be back shortly."
By the time their father dismissed them from the table, Jules rushed to retrieve his toy plane. Bubbling with excitement now. He tugged at Charles' arm, trying to drag him towards the door so they could go outside.
"Let's goooo, Charlie!" He urged, impatiently.

Christmas Morning
"Boys. Kids these days." Joining their fun, the old hedgehog placed his hand on his forehead before it went down across his face proceeding a rub in only one move.
When reached the doorway Charles almost stumbled into his little bro who abruptly halted to a stop but managed to keep his balance stable, then continued his race one time more. Seeing Jules reaching his seat first he let out a long pout.
"Not fair!" disagreed his big bro with his tongue stuck out.
"Try next time, son, but outside.” said their father before both finally took a seat simultaneously.
"Bon appetite!" cheered Olgilvie up before he started eating.
Forgetting all about his table manners, Jules dug into his food. Stuffing a couple slices of bacon into his mouth quickly.
Every so often, he would speak up with a mouthful of food - only to receive a stern glare by his father across from him. Taking the hint, the young hedgehog ate slower and only spoke when he had finished eating.
Everything was so delicious and by the time Jules had almost finished his second plate he was full. It didn't take long after that for him to get bored waiting for both Charles and Olgilvie to finish. He was growing so anxious to go outdoors and test his new RC plane. "Daaad? Can I play with my plane, now? Please?" He pleaded, now preparing to leave his seat before his father said anything.
Christmas Morning
Since the beginning of typical game Charles instantly forgot all about constant loathe, troubles and other things that bothered him quite a lot on his end. Of course, it was still Christmas, and the spirituality floating in air was so magic, not to mention that, also, paying a visit at Rosie’s home did turn him into like a real happy panda. Even, without him literally realizing, there was still some old hidden part in himself which was strongly longing for brotherly love, the same sensation he felt when he was kid and met the infant for the first time. And the same sensation he felt everytime when Jules needed something important as long as their father was away.
Thus, he responded with cocky laughs as he continued to tickle him here and there, well, Jules deserved that anyway. When the moves became a bit rough he finally decided to stop giving him some time to calm down. Then he merely blinked as his little bro hopped off and ran toward the kitchen.
"Oh, no way!” he yelled back stiffening a grin as well. Surprisingly, Charles accepted the other’s challenge and chased after him.
“Boys! Boys!" called their father out loudly waving his hands widely, and at same time cheerily. "No running in kitchen, sons!”
At their father's order, Jules halted to a stop just as he entered the kitchen and then giggled as he forced pass Charles to get to the kitchen table.
He reached his seat first, "too slow!" Jules grinned at his older brother; feeling quite proud of himself for winning this little race. Sitting at his seat, he soon looked over to his dad and smiled sheepishly. They both knew not to run around in the house, but it was much too fun to pass up!
No lecture came, thankfully, so Jules turned his attention to food spread out on the table. His stomach growled furiously once again.
Christmas Morning
That moment when he was about to turn around and follow father and is found falling backwards, fortunately landing on a soft spot. Good thing was that he didn’t depart himself so much otherwise. He let out a short squeal as Jules assaulted him playfully. Well, he certainly wasn’t expecting that.
"What the?! Haaaaaalp!" And so, he began squirming playfully to get himself out of Jules’s deadly hug. While adding a smirk on his face, his hands aimed for his young sides and started tickling him.
"You asked for that!"
"Haha! I surprised ya- ?!" Jules response was cut short when he felt his brother tickling his sides. That was a cruel move! He broke out into a giggling fit. "No! No! Stop! Ahahaaha!!" He pleaded, while kicking and squirming.
Minutes later in the middle of being under the wrath of Charles' tickling his sides, Jules' face became red and his breath began to labor somewhat. "Charlie... stoooop!" He gave a whine, and tried to swat him away. When he finally stopped, he laid there on the couch for a moment to catch his breath.
Now that he could breathe properly, Jules gave a grin at his older brother. "Race ya' to the kitchen!" He challenged. The younger hedgehog hopped off of the couch and then ran toward the kitchen, not even bothering to wait and see if Charles had even accepted the challenge.
Christmas Morning
With that being said, Charles started testing it by putting it on him. Miraculously, the size of it matched his so well! He could hardly wait to wear that as soon as well once everything is over. After couples of minutes he decided it was time to take it off since he started to feel a bit warm and placed it gently on the couch untill he heard Jules’s loud voice directly at their father.
Olgilvie chuckled as he tossed the last pieces of wrapping paper away and faced his young son, lowering himself at Jules’s eye level.
"Of course, son. We were actually going to do now." agreed the old hedgehog as he was brushing his brown mustache. After that he playfully patted Jules’s cheek. "Come on, Charlie."
"How come Jules is hungry like a wolf!" he burst out laughing, obviously kidding around.
"Yay!" He cheered, quite pleased with hearing that they were indeed about to eat. Poor kid, was so anxious to go outdoors and play with his toy plane. Jules soon gave his dad a tight hug, before pulling away and turning his attention on his older brother.
"Because I am part wolf! Rawr!" Jules snarled and launched at Charles, tackling him to the sofa, growling playfully as if Charles was now his lunch.
Christmas Morning
Unlike his little bro, Charles lazily walked to where the Christmas tree would be. There, he waited patiently for Jules to be done with everything so he could have his turn to open his own presents as well. Despite the lack of sleep schedules there was still some strength mixed excitement left in himself. After that breakfast he’d probably sleep for the rest of day.
Once when Jules was done, Charles began digging on his own underneath the tree and picked them up. The big one caught his attention as he started ripping the paper. It apparently revealed a new overcoat, and there, he squealed a bit. The next gift was another pair of gloves, but those aren’t specified for work but for a special party. He’d definitively wear them! so freakin’ decent!
But the last one gave him even more satisfaction. It was a book titled Technical Manual. He couldn’t help but read a few flipping pages and spotted the highlighted chapter. Robotics! Yes!!! The rest was just Christmas candies and money. However, he never felt so grateful for everything even if there’s more he’d love to have more.
"I freakin’ love them!!" squealed Charles like a silly kid hugging his new overcoat, snuggling deeply into it.
In return their father shook his head but chuckle a bit.
While Charles was opening his own gifts, Jules had stopped at a page that showed a Mobian warrior next to a plane, he thought he looked really cool and asked his father a couple questions about this person when he couldn't quite comprehend what was described on the page. That was until he noticed that his brother had opened his gifts, growing curious to see what he had been given.
It was nice seeing his brother this cheerful, despite the hardships the family had faced together because of their mom's addiction and negligence, they could still enjoy their presence and that was all that mattered.
Once all the wrapping paper was tossed away and the gifts were handed out, Jules tugged at Olgilvie's sleeve, "dad!? Could we eat now?" His stomach growled, reminding him once again that a delicious meal awaited them in the kitchen.
Christmas Morning
This earned a chuckle from their father, and a roll of eyes from Charles.
"So, why don’t you at least go and see what Santa got you, kiddies?" As he spoke up more he repeatedly clapped.
"Perhaps Julie should go first." suggested Charles lazily with a big yawn.
Jules eyes grew wide in pure excitement. The very moment he had been waiting so anxiously for! He hopped out of his seat and ran toward the living room to be greeted with neatly wrapped presents underneath the Christmas tree.
In haste, Jules look around for a present with his name on it. After he gathered them all there was three medium size boxes for him and two smaller ones. Eying over his gifts, it was hard to choose which one to open first! The biggest one had the most weight to it compared to the others, there could be something really awesome inside! Grabbing this particular gift, the young hedgehog didn't wait any longer to tear the gorgeous wrapping paper the biggest of the five presents.
Ripping the paper, Jules gasped in surprise when he caught a glimpse of what this box contained. It was a remote controlled plane! Jules jumped up in excitement, and hugged the box against his chest. He was going to have fun with this for sure!
The next four gifts contained: a history book full of colorful photographs, a 3D puzzle, a pair of gloves and a shirt.
It wasn't exactly all that he had asked ol' Saint Nick for but he was still very grateful for what he received!
He was dying to try out his RC plane but was quickly told to wait until after they ate and Charles opened his own presents. While waiting, Jules looked through the pages of his book.
Aw, how cute. He looked like Sonic, but with the darker coloring and the brown hair tuff.
"My name is Susie, I’m a friend of Charles, your older brother." She introduced
”It nice to finally meet you” She added with a friendly smile
Jules' face brightened when she introduced herself. Yet another person that knew his older brother. Could she be from another timeline too? He wondered. Either way, she seemed really nice and would love to get to know her even better.
"It's nice to meet you too, Susie!"
