Quick and dirty candle infographic for the most common uses of different coloured candles. There are more, of course, but here are the basics.
Psychic Abilities and How to Develop Them
(SOURCE)
Clairvoyance (clear-seeing)
Having “visions”, seeing images (still or moving) on the inner screen of the mind (eyes can be open or closed). Also includes seeing auras, apparitions, angels, etc. In other words, seeing beyond the physical. The area of the body that receives the psychic impressions for this sense is located in the center of the forehead (the Third Eye).
Claircognizance (clear-knowing)
Having knowledge of certain situations/people/places without having any information to facilitate such knowing. This can be things of the past, present or future (premonitions). A common statement from people who are strong in this ability is, “I don’t know how I know, I just know.” The location for this sense is on the top of the head (the Crown chakra).
Clairaudience (clear-hearing)
Hearing voices, music and other sounds that do not have a physical source. This can include hearing voices of those on the “other side” (deceased people), our guardian angels or spirit guides, our higher selves, or God/dess. This can also include hearing voices/music/sounds that are actually echoes of the past - this happens alot in haunted buildings). The locations for this sense are on each side of the head, just above the ears.
Clairsentience (clear-feeling or clear-sensing)
“Feeling” things about people or situations that we otherwise could not know. People who are strong in this ability often talk about having “gut feelings” about things, and are usually very sensitive to energies and emotions of other people. Negative energies can often cause a wrenching or queasy feeling in the abdominal area. This sense can also warn of problematic upcomings or situations (having a “bad” feeling about something). This sense is located in the solar plexus.
Clairalience (clear-smelling)
Smelling things that have no physical source. Very common in haunted areas, but can also be an indication that a deceased loved one is with us (i.e. smelling your mother’s favorite flower suddenly while in a closed room during winter). It can be their way of contacting us, letting us know they’re around.
Clairhambience (clear-tasting)
Tasting things without having eaten them. Most often relates to spirit communication, as with Clairalience.

Anti-Anxiety Jar Spell
I modified this spell to fit my mom’s needs. This spell is meant to calm you while also boost energy you would have otherwise spent on your anxiety. You must remain calm while creating and corking this spell or else it may not have the desired affect.
You will need:
Himalayan Salt
Sage, Coffee Grounds & Basil mix
Dried Corn Husks
Dried or Fresh Lavender Flower Buds
White Candle
TINY Jar
Blessed/Cleansed/Charged Bowl
Funnel, easily made out of paper
Directions:
Light the white candle. Close your eyes and visualize your calmest state of being.
Mix the Sage, Coffee Grounds & Basil with the Lavender Flowers. Funnel into the jar until it is 1/3 full.
Place the pieces of Dried Corn Husk in the jar. Make sure it won’t cause the Salt to clog when funneling it in, as it will make a huge mess.
Charge the Himalayan Salt with good, calm energy. Funnel the Salt into the jar. Leave room for the cork.
Center yourself and Cork the Jar when you feel nice and calm.

Sleep and Protection Pouch
So, as of late, my little sister has been really having a hard time sleeping and anxiety for some reason or another. While I have encouraged her to talk to a professional about it, she’s too embarrassed to ask our mom and dad because she doesn’t think they’ll take her seriously. Long story short, my parents are not the most supportive or encouraging of parents, so we have a somewhat strained relationship with them on occasion.
But that’s not the point.
I wanted to make a small pouch for her to keep with her that could help with sleep and protect her, and so I did. I haven’t been able give it to her, but I hope she appreciates it.
Tools:
lavender-sleep
chamomile-sleep
eucalyptus-peace & protection
optional amethyst
a small pouch
Basically, make sure everything is ready and charged, and put it all in the pouch. While my supplies are in short demand, and I don’t have the funds to get more, I’ve used eucalyptus for peace and protection from the anxiety which plagued my sister. You can always adapt it to how you see fit, of course! Add a sigil or anything you like! This is just what I have on me and can quickly make for my sister. Feel free to use it as you like!
I really need to do more with my Craft. I’ve just been so lazy and anxious about it, because I rarely have time alone except once a week.

The Bible & Christopaganism
Jesus never forbade polytheism. No, I’m serious. I searched “gods”, “idols” etc on BibleGateway and found no evidence of Jesus ever forbidding it, or even speaking about other gods at all. Even when Jesus was asked what the “commandments” were, he didn’t mention the “idolatry/don’t worship other gods” commandment (Matthew 19:18-19).
The main person who spoke against polytheism in the New Testament was Paul, and even in forbidding the veneration of other gods, Paul seemed to admit that other gods did indeed exist. See 1 Corinthians 8:5-6: “For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,). But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” It sounds a lot like henotheism. “There be many gods…but TO US there is but one God…”
Do you know what else Paul said, though? He also said that women shouldn’t be allowed to speak in church. Clearly, you don’t have to follow everything that Paul says.
But The Ten Commandments Said Not To Worship Any Other Gods! Well actually, the 10 Commandments does not actually forbid you from venerating other gods. All it says is not to put any other gods before God. (This commandment, by the way, seems to confirm, once again, that other gods do indeed exist.)
Regardless, Christians are no longer under the 10 Commandments. Here’s a page explaining why (x). In sum, it’s because the 10 Commandments were God’s contract with the Israelites. Christ brought with Him a new law, and that law did not prohibit polytheism.
Anyway, the Old Testament in its entirety is kinda iffy to me. Killing gay people? Really? Would a loving God really tell us to do that? I don’t think so, and it seems that Jesus didn’t think so either. Jesus explicitly told people not to follow what God supposedly said to do in the Old Testament. See John 8:3-7:
The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”…He straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stoneat her.”
My understanding is that God is vastly misrepresented in the OT. It’s like a game of telephone, but with deities and angels and humans and such. Add a political agenda, and you get what you get. I don’t think God actually said to kill people. I think Jesus specifically came to correct people’s misconceptions of what God said/did.
Thus, I’m not sure how much I trust the OT regarding God’s Law in general. Granted, I don’t 100% trust the New Testament either. Both are flawed due to having been written, interpreted, and translated by humans. But, yeah.
Regarding Divination
I don’t think divination is forbidden according to the Bible. This article examines the various instances of divination, fortune-telling, omens, spiritual communications, etc, in the Bible, and how it eventually came to be demonized.
Here’s one instance of divination that the article forgot to mention: The divination method of casting lots (Cleromancy) was used by the remaining eleven disciples of Jesus in Acts 1:23-26 to select a replacement for Judas Iscariot.
All in all:
Based on a balanced look at the biblical record, it is safe to conclude that God intended us to use divination systems to better interpret our pathway to realization. In ancient times, only the high priest had the power of direct access. Fortunately today, all spiritually inclined people have access to even better divination systems—like the I Ching, Astrology and Tarot. We are now able to ‘go direct’ for guidance on our own, bypassing religious and political hierarchies altogether. In the first century of the common era, as he was defining orthodox Christian beliefs, St. Paul labeled the ability to decipher the mind of God as “the Gift of Prophecy”—one of the Holy Spirit’s gifts to true believers. It was a form of channeling. Nowadays, thanks to universal access to authentic divination tools, everyone—Christian and non-Christian alike—who approaches the process with sincerity can derive the benefits, without being expected to channel (or speak in tongues). When it comes to communicating with the divine, the open minded are truly the chosen people.
Of course, don’t be so open-minded that your brain falls out. Use discernment. The Bible gives some advice on that here:
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.” (Matthew)
I don’t fully understand the above verse but there it is lmao.
Anyway, yeah; there’s the Bible on Christopaganism. If anyone has anything else to add, let me know!

essential oils are awesome witchcraft components! they can also fucking hurt you.
so, I’ve been selling smelly things for about a decade now (which is crazy, but there you go), and I get super wired whenever I see people using essential oils for witchcraft/devotional perfumes/what have you. I also get worried sometimes, because some of what I see people doing - particularly on tumblr - is kind of dangerous. (sometimes in a low-key way, sometimes seriously.) use essential oils for devotion and witchcraft because essential oils are awesome, but be careful with them, because plants are assholes and want to kill you sometimes. Check out the contraindications before using anything. There are basically no essential oils that are 100% safe to use in every single situation. It’s important to double check even if you’re healthy, but particularly if you have a medical condition or are pregnant. (If you’re pregnant, be really fucking careful. Seriously. Essential oils are a minefield for you.) Don’t give yourself a fucking chemical burn. One of my favourite party tricks (I am so boring at parties) is to put a few drops of something like peppermint oil on a thin plastic take-out container. If you wait a couple of minutes and then poke it with a fork, the plastic will have melted a little. EXCITING. A lot of people seem to think that essential oils are ~~natural and gentle~~, but fuck, a lot of them are used by the plant to get rid of insects/fungi/etc. All essential oils need dilution before using them (okay, sure, tea tree and lavender are generally safe, but otherwise), and some shouldn’t even be used on the skin in normally-safe levels of dilution. If you have sensitive skin and put some cinnamon oil lotion on it, you’re fucked, you’re going to be red and sore and pissed off at cinnamon, which is a sad state of affairs. Related note: don’t try to dilute with water. Essential oils aren’t lipids, but they’re still hydrophobic. Want to use essential oils in your bath so that you can focus on shit that isn’t all the stuff you have to do at work tomorrow? Awesome! My favourite is spruce, clary sage, and myrrh - that one’s fucking great. Dilute it with bath oil or some salt first, though. Being super focused on how sore and itchy you are isn’t ideal. Related note: citrus oils are assholes. You know that whole ‘use sun and lemon juice to bleach your hair!’ deal? That totally happens to your entire body if you use too much citrus oil in something that’s going on your skin. Bergamot is one of the worst, but all of them are guilty as hell. Dilute well, don’t slather it on before going out in the sun, and keep an eye on how your own body reacts. Remember that essential oils are super concentrated. I fucking love putting essential oils on charcoal. Sometimes I mix them in with dried herbs, but sometimes I just drop them on the charcoal directly - too many drops and you’ll just have a hunk of sad wet charcoal, but it’s worth it for the billowing smoke that flows out over the rim of my charcoal-burning bowl and drifts along my altar. (SPECIAL EFFECTS FOR YOUR MAGIC.) Whenever I do that, though, I have to remember to be careful about how much I use, and how much of the smoke I breathe in. Inhaling ten drops of peppermint essential oil all at once is like eating more peppermint than anyone should or would want to eat, just fucking… bowls and bowls of the stuff. When I used clove oil on charcoal to get rid of a plague of flies, it worked magnificently, but then I also had to air everything out and ended up googling the effects of clove oil overdose. I had one customer who accidentally dumped a bottle of lavender oil on their head; they washed it off, but still had some fun hallucinations (this is sarcasm) and spent a while at a walk-in clinic. Don’t let that be you. Essential oils go bad. This isn’t a safety tip, exactly, unless you’re dealing with an oil like jasmine that will make you cry and hate your life and the world if you smell it after it’s gone bad. Those oils are rare, though - your sadly ruined oil isn’t going to stink, it’s just going to stop smelling like anything and become an expensive bottle of nothing much. Store your oils in a cool, dark place - don’t set them out on your altar or shrine if that’s on a sunny windowsill. Most oils will eventually lose their potency anyway (citrus oils continue to be assholes and only last about a year even in the best conditions), but some oils, particularly resins, will keep for decades and just get better with time if you’re nice to them. Be careful. Don’t burn yourself. Don’t overdose. That’s about it, really. ETA: Be careful about pets and other animals. This needs a whole post of its own, honestly, but if you have pets (particularly cats or birds), read up on how they react to essential oils. This shit is important. Essential oils can be deadly to some animals.
^^^ to ESPECIALLY REITERATE
Essential oils should not be used around pets, period. Unless you are professionally trained, don’t go trying to follow any online guides or advice. It’s not good idea EVER. At best, you can irritate their poor lungs, noses, and eyes. At worst, you can cause PERMANENT organ damage.
Don’t do it man. I don’t even do it, because I’m only trained to whole plants, not oils.
Really important info- I can’t have any non-wax based scented things without looking like I have pinkeye. Keep safe!
