Thomas was born as the seventh son of a seventh son. As soon as he turned five years, he began to have visions of things that would come to be, but could be altered. He confronted his mother, who simply told him to not worry and that they would go away. They never did.
He continued to see things and could predict events up until he turned 18, when the Spook came to find him. The Spook, who’s name was revealed to be John Gregory, was determined to take Thomas and train him to become a force against the Dark. He paid a good price, and Tom was taken under his wing.
Shortly after traveling with Master Gregory, he encountered a witch by the name of Alice Deane. He was instantly drawn to her and vice versa, which led to them falling in love, much to Master Gregory’s protest. Little did either know, Alice was forced to spy on Thomas and to take the Umbran stone, which enhanced the powers of the Witch Queen, aka, Mother Malkin.
With the promise from her mother that Thomas would stay safe, Alice took the Umbran Stone from him and fled back to her mother and Mother Malkin. Upon noticing it was stolen, Master Gregory convinced Thomas to follow after her, which led them to Pendle Mountain. While there, Alice felt regret and stole the Umbran Stone from her to return it to Thomas.
With the Umbran Stone around his neck and Gregory’s staff in hand, he defeated and helped kill Mother Malkin as well as her minions. With that finished, Master Gregory passed his title onto Thomas, who abandoned his title of apprentice and took on the new one of Spook.
