For our early ancestors, lighting was limited to homemade candles and firelight. This wrought-iron chandelier has a centrally located glass ball to reflect further light from its four candles; wall sconces above the chest are also equipped with reflectors. The wrought-iron double candleholder on the right is the ancestor of present-day floor lamps.
