Los zapatos eran un tema inusual para pintar en la época de Van Gogh. 👞 La mayoría de los artistas pintaban naturalezas muertas elegantes, a menudo simbolizando riqueza. Pero Vincent se sentía atraído por estos objetos que «llevaban las cicatrices de la vida». Incluso compraba zapatos de trabajo viejos en mercados de pulgas, caminaba con ellos por el barro y solo entonces los consideraba dignos de ser pintados.
¿Qué ves en esta naturaleza muerta? Algunos ven un autorretrato disfrazado. Otros, un símbolo de los largos viajes de Van Gogh. O tal vez simplemente amaba capturar su belleza gastada.
