BIOGRAPHY.
The McKinnon's were always a large family, with two older brothers; Marlene was the baby of her immediate family. And to top it off, she had aunts, uncles, and cousins beyond numbers. From a young age, Marlene learned that if she wanted to be heard, she would have to be loud. Being loud was something that she was known to be terribly good at. Beyond being loud, Marlene was a curious child who seemed able to get herself into trouble without even trying. When she had questions, she would do anything to get the answers. Nothing was done at half pace; whenever she wanted something, it always seemed to happen to her. Her childhood had been nothing short of joyous; she was a naturally happy and curious child, and her parents encouraged her to explore at every turn. Even as a child, she’d been determined to find the good in things and to help people who couldn’t help themselves. And while she had been prepared for school, Hogwarts came with challenges–she hadn’t expected the hat to call out Slytherin, having longed of being sorted into Gryffindor for as long as she could remember. Marlene’s summer before her seventh year, her mother put her foot down and changed everything for her youngest child. Marlene entered her final year branded a soldier for a war she wanted no part of. This great loss caused her to lose her fire, and Marlene lost hope. Forever she would be a soldier for a cause that she didn't believe in. But she did it, keeping her head down and doing what was asked of her to keep the rest of her family safe. Marlene would often question why it had been her, and perhaps it was because her mother had saw so much of her self in her daughter. A compliment and a threat all rolled into one. Upon Marlene’s completion of her education through Hogwarts, it was simple for her to make her way into the career of her choice. She’d heard the stories of the Hit Witches and Wizards that worked for the Ministry and how they were called in to defuse the chaotic situations and to make the tough calls when necessary. It was in the chaos that Marlene thrived, while some people froze in a fast-moving situation. It was like time slowed down for Marlene, enabling her to see things clearer than she normally would. There was no denying that Marlene was one of the best in the department–the majority of her poor marks stemmed from her inability to remember that her wand was her greatest weapon. The fiery brunette preferred a hands-on attempt at things and, more often than not, would throw a punch at the perfect moment. She took pride in her career, and having a child so well looked at in the Ministry resulted in something that Marlene had never had before; Alma was proud of her. At any given moment, Marlene was expected to attend a function where she would make her mother look good and plaster a smile on her face–and in turn, she was able to evade the traditional idea of an arranged marriage that would bring honor to the bloodline. As long as she kept her nose to the ground and her place in the Hit Witch department, then her mother was willing to let things continue. It was all a mask that Marlene couldn't shed, no matter how hard she tried. That was until the Dark Lord finally fell, and Marlene bolted, running from her mother and, by extension, the rest of her family. It was from this that she found herself dedicated to the Order. Are there people who don't trust her? Sure, but that's okay. She's not completely sure she trusts them, either.
