one of the only parts of cruel summer i don’t understand is “i’m not dying” right after the vending machine lyric

okay so if we think of this as them standing at a literal vending machine and she’s just watching him, that takes me back to the lyric ‘what doesn’t kill me makes me want you more’ and how people talk about watching the people they love doing mundane tasks (like getting food out of a vending machine for example) sometimes overwhelms them with desire and love. so like…. “i’m not dying staring at him doing this random thing right now…. it’s not killing me…. god i want him….” that’s how i figured it out anyway
