Call your Member of Congress and ask them to publicly support Representative Jerry Nadler's "Resolution of Inquiry" regarding Donald Trump's ties to Vladimir Putin's regime and his refusal to divest from his business interests. This Resolution will force the House to debate their role as a check on the executive branch.

Call your senators and tell them to vote "NO" on Sessions. Senator Warren was silenced on this matter yesterday as she tried to read a letter by Coretta Scott King from 1986 regarding Sessions as he was considered to serve as a federal judge (a job which he did not get). Part of that letter reads:

"I write to express my sincere opposition to the confirmation of Jefferson B. Sessions as a federal district court judge for the Southern District of Alabama. My professional and personal roots in Alabama are deep and lasting. Anyone who has used the power of his office as United States Attorney to intimidate and chill the free exercise of the ballot by citizens should not be elevated to our courts. Mr. Sessions has used the awesome powers of his office in a shabby attempt to intimidate and frighten elderly black voters. For this reprehensible conduct, he should not be rewarded with a federal judgeship.” — Coretta Scott King

Call your representative in the House and ask them to STRONGLY oppose HR 861, a proposal to get rid of the EPA.

If you need encouragement to call, consider the crazy rate of climate change we’re seeing and it’s terrible effects on the world.

Call your senators and ask them to vote “NO” on Puzder for Labor Secretary. He treats his own company’s employees abysmally, and cracks are emerging in his confirmation case (he has recently admitted to hiring an undocumented worker to clean his home).

ALSO. If your senator is a Democrat, thank them for putting up a fight against a DeVos confirmation.

ACT (AGAIN) TODA 2/1/2017

Reach out personally to anyone you know who lives in Nebraska, Kentucky or Arizona. Ask them to call Senators Ben Sasse (NE), Rand Paul (KY) and Jeff Flake (AZ) and ask them to vote "NO" on DeVos. OF COURSE, IF YOU HAVE A REPUBLICAN SENATOR, REACH OUT TO THEM AS WELL! We're making progress: Already Collins and Murkowski have said they will be voting no. We just need one more Republican senator.

Today, call your Senators and register your opinion on Gorsuch. You can ask your Senators to support, oppose, or filibuster his appointment. I'll be simply asking them to oppose, since I am not convinced that filibuster is the right move in this case.

Also, please do not forget to keep an open mind, formulate your own opinions, read beyond the soundbites, and reach out to others. Let's not get brainwashed or divided.

As always, call your congresspeople. Ask them to do two things:

- Obstruct all of DT’s cabinet picks (especially Sessions, today)

- Get Steve Bannon off of the National Security Council.

Call your senators and tell them to forcefully oppose DT's promotion of Steve Bannon to the National Security Council along with the concurrent demotion of the chairman of the Join Chiefs of Staff and the director of national intelligence. Instead of qualified experts at the national security table, we now instead have a racist blowhard.

(Of course, also speak up to your senators about the broad and unconstitutional ban on immigrants, which I cannot believe is now relegated to a parenthetical position in this post. DT's strategy seems to be not so much distraction as rapid fire damage to our democracy, so that we can't even keep track of each day's terrible developments #notnormal)

Oh boy what disheartening days. I’ll post a couple of things to do today.

First, call North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and tell him to put an end to violence against DAPL protesters. Urge him to abandon the pipeline. 701.328.2200

It has been hard to pick an action or two each day when there are so many issues to resist. But rather than agonize forever I’ll pick two actions today:

1. Email the Army Corps of Engineers and tell them you do NOT support DAPL, despite DT’s executive order to the contrary signed yesterday. http://www.usace.army.mil/Contact/ (honestly I don’t know how these emails get filed, and I just chose “General Questions” as the recipient)

2. Keep calling your senators and tell them to vote against Rex Tillerson, Betsy DeVos, Scott Pruitt, Tom Price, Steve Mnuchin, and Jeff Sessions. Red state, blue state, it doesn’t matter - our senators need our input. Remember even Elizabeth Warren voted Ben Carson through. We have to be louder.
