MOVING
I’ve created a multi-oc blog and have moved Ren to that blog. This blog will be archived, and you can find the new blog here.
( Annnddd here’s a set for Callie Salvatore-Kato ( or Kato-Salvatore. idk. ) Honestly this is how I imagine the RenRaph lovechild— But idk I was dickin’ around with color schemes and now sdkjfgh shimmies. Ain’t she a cutie tho? )
The uncomfortable wetness that collects on his chest is nothing and when compared to how bad he wants to encase Ren in a safe haven; it’s a non-existent problem. Raphael wants so badly to say something, anything but what can he say? He wants to encourage the brunet that he’ll get through this but with the thread he’s barely holding onto, that seems like a blatant lie. Then there’s the desire to apologize but that’s no good either because it would only bring up a pool of his own regrets and he had to be strong for the both of them. He could say one thing but it felt out of place— Talking always felt out of place when Ren was in despair.
"I’m here, Ren…" Yeah, that was definitely out of place but it was the best he could do, sadly. Raphael kissed the top of the brunet’s head before he tucked it under his chin, drawing him closer. "I’m here."
The tears stop flowing when he hears the angel's voice, allowing the ones that filled his eyes to clear out and leave his eyes with a glassy coat. The brunet sniffled, inhaling sharply to try and stop the flow from returning and getting worse. He knew how this made the silveret feel, knew that it was a mix of worry and bitterness because of all of the captured rage that he felt for the hybrid. And he also knew that Raph did not have to be there, holding him like he was and telling him that he was going to stay there.
"Thank you," Ren huffed, exhausted and dizzy, "Please, please don't ever leave me for good." He pleaded with the other, hoping that it did not sound pathetic of him to need the other so bad. But it was true, now Ren needed the angel more than ever, and that would stay true for a long, long time.
"Poppa" The little girl said, tugging at her papa's leg, "I wanna dance, can we dance?" She asked raising her arms up and wiggling her hips. "Will you sing to me?"
Ren looks down at the light of his life, a warm smile gracing his face when he is asked to dance. “I don’t know, honey. Papa’s a little tired.” He teases, the grin widening on his face. Then she pouts, and he chuckles before he turns to face her and lifts her so that she is standing on his feet. Holding onto her hands, he takes steps in a square and sways her around lightly as he hums a song.
The brunet cherishes these moments, the times when he is just able to make his beautiful daughter smile and giggle.
“Hmm, right.” Her skin is wrinkled in places that shouldn’t be. She shouldn’t be upset, she shouldn’t feel pity for this mortal loser who has a habit for falling for the wrong people. People who will or have hurt him, people that will eventually leave him. He’s experienced enough, enough for the demon to feel the pain emitting from his figure from a mile away. Despite his smile and laughter, his upbeat smile that’s so bright it must be artificial, she knows he can’t take too much more of this.
“So, I caught word that the hybrid is gone; by his own hand, of course. How you holdin’ up?”
The smile fades. He did not think that Calum's death would become a topic for conversation so quickly. The brunet believed that maybe they could do some catching up, which they seemed to do more often then they should when he thought about it. Leaning his weight to one leg and slipping his hands into his pockets, he sighed. Ren supposed that he should be more grateful that these conversation were happening so soon, because then he could move passed it quicker.
His eyes do not tear up just yet. He's trying not to think about it. Trying to focus on the girl in front of him rather than imagine his best friend lying dead on the ground. "Holding up isn't exactly what I would use to describe what I am doing." He brings one of his hand up and run his thumb and pointer down his jaw. He lifts his head to look into the other's green eyes. His voice is deeper than usual; partially because he was just punched in the gut, but also because of all the crying he's been doing. It was straining his throat. "It's-- It's been difficult."
He was a man on a mission, and showed it with how confident and serious his expression turned as he picked up the pen.
!!peanut butter!!
New ideas were brewing. A sure fire way to call forth the rain this time! But his zeal—- it stuttered, eyeing Ren’s appearance. A cock of the head and he flipped the page.
tired?
keep up!
So that was a confirmation that the mute in fact did not know about what happened; or if he did he was taking it really, really well. Ren stepped out from behind the counter and lead the other down the aisles. Should he tell him? It might be better to hear it from someone who would be okay with letting the other take a moment rather than reading some not all alone in the dark. Ren looked at the varieties of peanut butter and nodded to let the other choose which one he preferred-- think it was for sandwiches and not some rain ritual. He pushes a chuckle passed his lips when he reads the 'tired?', and then the encouragement short after that. The brunet nods, "It's a little more than just a lack of sleep..." Oh dear, how was he going to say this.
"Daddy, up up." The little girl said as she raised her arms up. "I'm tired. Can you tell me a story about the angel man? The one you and poppa sometimes talk about."
The silveret chuckled at the demand his child gave him but he still leaned over to pick her up, complying with his little girl’s wish. Settling her carefully on his lap, he brushed tufts of her silky hair behind her ear and just smiled. “I don’t think any of my stories are appropriate for you, Cal. Why don’t you ask papa instead?”

Guess who happened to walk into Ren’s convenience store! Looks like he remembers him, judging by that smile and the way he bounces.
And it looks like Ren remembered Chris as well, because his eyes spark for the first time since the incident. It's the instinct to not make an old friend feel pressured with his problems-- but wasn't he close to Calum too? He forces on the smile, and it's so pathetically done that it's easy to read through. "Hey Chris, what are you looking for today?"
“Are you—. . .” With those words dying upon his lips, the artifical angel let a small frown take place of the question. Mostly because he knew the brunet wasn’t okay and it was a idiotic query to make when that much was already evident. It pained him to see Ren like this and honestly, a little aggravated. But his companion didn’t need any bitterness ontop of everything so the silveret just tugged him closer, capturing Ren in his arm and held him close; It was the only form of comfort he could think of giving because there were no words for what they were going through— For what Ren was going through.
The tears do not fall from his eyes until he is embraced by the other and his face is concealed by the others chest. The angel's shirt soaks up a majority of his tears until it becomes to wet to absorb anymore. His sobs a heavy, loud; and he has his arms wrapped around the other tightly. He wants to say something, ask Raph why the hybrid had to go and do it; but deep down he knew that it would be pointless to ask because the silveret would not have an answer to something like that. So Ren just continues with his crying, keeping his words to himself.
— ❋ “We’re turning around Ren?” The ghost asked without really realizing what he said. It was another thing that he did, when something was hot his muscle memory would kick in and he’d say or do something and forget about it the second after. “Where are we going now? Hm? Hey, what does food taste like? I can’t remember what it tastes like and I haven’t eaten it in a really long time.” The ghost said as he continued to follow the man.
A fist swung straight at the boy, but just as he was about to hit the other; he stopped. What would his daughter think if she saw him like this, watched him punch a kid? He imagined the horrified look on her face and it sent him into a shock that froze him in place. Letting his hand fall back down to his side, he grit his teeth and took one, long deep breath. "I don't know who you are, or how you know my name, or what kind of sick joke you think you're playing--" He paused, hazel hues shooting up to look directly at the other. "But I want nothing to do with you, do you understand me? Do not follow me around, so not ask me anymore dumb questions. I can't do this."
Instead of taking the tea, Raphael took the brunet’s hands in his. Gently, he let his own pale hands brush over the backside of those trembling hands before he gripped them. Lavender eyes looked upwards to meet with hazels that didn’t seem to focus on anything. The silveret tilted his head, trying to meet with his beloved’s gaze and spoke softly. “…Ren.”
Ren made eye contact with the silveret, but his eyes were hollow. It was as if he was looking straight through the other and at the wall behind him. Tears welled up in his swollen hazel eyes, "Hmm...?" He muttered, voice choking on the simple sound he was making. His hands gripped onto the others tightly now, still shaking but showing that he did in fact recognize who the other was in front of him.
“…Tea, please.”
He nods, making the tea and pouring it into a mug with a shaky hand. When he walks over to the angel he sets the cup down with his eyes looking elsewhere; constantly distracted.
"Coffee or tea?"
Punches in the gut.
He coughs out the air that rushes out of him, tears welling up in his eyes. Is it sad that he can tell who it is by how her punches feel? Inhaling deeply, Ren lifts his head and puts on a grin while gritting his teeth. “It’s nice to see you too, Syn.”
— ❋ “Well then, none of your business, its very nice to meet you.” The ghost said as he took a few steps ahead of the other. It was obvious that Caleb was being a bother and that the other wasn’t really paying attention to him, but he shrugged it off. “Dying’s hard you know.” He said with a shrug, as he made his way. “There are things that you should remember but you can’t like your name. Or your birthday. I think that’s why being a ghost is hard. But, its also easy because nothing hurts.”
He pulled his hands out of his pockets, ready to throw a punch. It was not right, the way this kid was fucking with him. But he took a deep breath, turned around, and started walking the other way. He would call his sister later and tell her that he had to go back home for something. She had recommended to start controlling the anger that built up in him after that day, so that's what he was doing. He would just ignore it and move on.
— ❋ “Hey! I’m not a kid, I’m almost a hundred years old.” The ghost didn’t really know that for sure, but why not just say it for the kick of it. “If you don’t live around here what are you doing here?” He asked, because until he got answers to why the other was hot, he’d probably stick to his side. Caleb just wanted to know who he was after all, was that so bad? “Caleb’s not my real name. I made it up because I had Cal tattoo’d on my chest when I woke up and I just went with it because no one could tell me what my name was.” He said as he shrugged and tilted his head. “What’s your name?”
His head just bowed further and further, hiding his face from the other with his hair. Why was he talking to him so much? Half of it he was not even paying attention to. "What I'm doing here is none of your business." He said, glaring ahead of his. As someone who's gone through amnesia before, he does not think the other is lying when he explains that ridiculous story. "If you named yourself Caleb, then your name is probably Caleb. And my name is also none of your business."
— ❋ “Is that so?” The ghost asked as he gotten up and followed the other who was on his way. It was usual for him—to follow people. Why? Because he found out in his beginning years that normally if he had a hot feeling and met someone, it meant something was going to happen, a clue would be found. “Do you live around here? Because I was traveling for a long time since there’s so many places around the world that feel really familiar and I’m still trying to figure everything out.” He said, not exactly making sense since the other didn’t know he was a ghost, but still. “But I’ve never met a hot person, and you’re a hot person. Maybe I know you. I’m Caleb and you are?” He asked chattering along as he followed the other like a lost puppy.
Ren rolled his eyes, shoving his hands deeper into his pockets and lowering his head. He wondered if this was how annoying he was when he was that age. "I don't live around here, and I don't really care who you are. Leave me alone, kid." When the 'Cal' syllable left the other's mouth, he almost decked the boy square in the jaw. But then he said Caleb, and Ren kept his hands in his pockets. Being called hot also threw him off, throwing up red flags in his mind that told him to get away quickly.
