“ the water in the forts is for the soldiers, not the smiths. ” not for any of the ‘conscripted’ workers therein. the wells in the manors are even better than the forts, he hears, but he’s never been to one; they’re not allowed in the gusting hills finery, only permitted to deal with the servants and guardsmen, even outside.

shrugs a bit, stepping forward with his bucket once more. he lashes the handle to the hook and rope, easing it on down, keeping his eyes on the process instead of the girl as he works. “ where are you from? you don’t look or sound like someone raised here. ” not to mention not knowing about the forts and the manors and the wells. she doesn’t have the look of a gusting hills civilian, servant, or lady either. mayhap from the farmlands or inferno glen? he’s never seen anybody from those kingdoms.
