im debating making jasper canon divergent because THAT FELT LIKE SUPER BAD WRITING LMAO but at the same time it could be a stockholm syndrome arc so guess whos torn))#
i don’t think it was bad writing, i actually think it was incredible writing. it acknowledged that both jasper and lapis were in the wrong, but in different ways. I definitely see it as a form of stockholm syndrome, and i’m definitely hoping that Jasper is helped with it. Lapis is getting better, she was able to say no to Jasper even though she obviously enjoyed being in malachite because of the pwoer she had over jasper - she liked hurting jasper the way she did.
i don’t think that jasper wanted to be a prisoner again. I think she enjoyed having the power of malachite at her fingertips. It’s shown she had the most power over malachite in watermelon island, and maybe even before that, judging from how angry malachite got at the watermelon stevens.
they were fused together for so long, they started to forget themselves - lapis admitted she missed it, and jasper missed it to. The difference is, Lapis has had other things to occupy her thoughts. She’s had Steven, and Peridot and she’s been away from the ocean, which was likely a trigger for her. She’s had a small amount of time to heal. Not much, but enough to give her a bit of strength to see that what she did was wrong
Jasper... hasn’t. Lapis and Malachite have likely been the only things on her mind since she woke up.
I think and HOPE in the future that the crewniverse and the show can give jasper the help she obviously needs now. They both need to heal
