honestly for me i just don’t like it when the fandom in general pampers another character over the other without even knowing why a person is the way the way they are. abusers may at times not be aware that they’re abusive and i’ve been in a similar relationship and have been made aware of that i’ve been toxic as well. but i think what people need to realize is that the one who’s been misused and is uncomfortable with stepping back into a situation with their abuser doesn’t necessarily have to be the one stepping up to make the change but other people can. other people can help a toxic individual overcome their negativity. it doesn’t mean that if someone who has mentally or physically crippled someone should be let off the hook so easily but that they also shouldn’t be denied to try and live a healthier lifestyle away from what they’ve done. it takes years to recover from being abused and having abused someone. it’s easier to hate than to forgive someone and jasper is the perfect example of someone who is struggling to understand the crystal gem’s concept of ‘being free, and who you are’ when she’s been made perfect. when she’s been fighting all her life and when someone who she’s admitted to having admired betrays someone she’s serving and is loyal to. jasper is the way she is because she’s known all her life that she has to be a certain way, and she has to follow a set of certain rules. she was born in the middle of a war. it’s not her fault she’s been indoctrinated. yes, it may be her fault that she’s forced people to fuse with her and has been an over all jerk but it doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be pitied over how much she’s struggled. people don’t have to necessarily like her but just acknowledge the fact that she is the way she is because she’s been surrounded by negativity in general and have never been exposed to something positive.

    talking with lapis ? proved to be difficult when you weren’t steven . the lack of acceptance towards her and what she had put the water gem through would always stay into the farthest corners of her mind . the feeling of being superior then , and getting an upset stomach now whenever she was reminded has settled and all she could do now was do better .

    except that doing better meant communicating with the people you’ve wronged , and honestly , peridot had never thought that talking to someone would ever be so difficult . when it came to lapis lazuli , she just felt guilty even when she’d tried to make things right between them . and now she was curious , and wanted to know what had happened on the trip .

     but she didn’t pry . resisted to at least . it wouldn’t be very helpful to demand answers as , what had happened had obviously affected the other gem to the point of silence . and as her fingers ran over her blonde locks , her eyes were directed at anything but the other gem she sat beside with .

    a concerned , but warm smile is offered . ❛ okay . well , i found out that the best way to get your mind off of whatever’s bothering you is to do something else so ---- you got anything in mind that you want to do or , try out or... ❜
