Collaboration, It is.
WE would like to thank everyone who participated in our last event Hi+Graviti: Jouvert.
One thing we can attest to is THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COLLABORATION
Five events in (working on our sixth and seventh as we type) and we realize the reason we keep going is because the artists of Atlanta continually coming together with their talents, resources, and experiences to promote and encourage one another.
They have identified common goals of wanting to have an impact on their generation and gain exposure of their craft and they actively participate in the processes of accomplishing such.
Whether it is King.Brad of Underground Royalty doing a podcast with WAYC-0, whether that’s the Lost N Found sponsorship of Talib Matin and Ricc $ilver or the group promotion and distribution of WisdomATL‘s Tribe, a loose confederation of local Atlanta rappers including : Cash Capone, Miles Knight, Fre$co Van Gogh, Young Pheezy, and others you will soon come to know .
IT IS COLLABORATION, and it is making this city shine bright.
It is ARTx1994 Streetwear brand promotion via Ezzy Hendrix. It is Hire Visions capturing photos of Marz Van Gogh and Indigo Bang. It is a picture of P.Jax standing next to Adoja Burns. It is Brittany making hi+graviti flyers with srfwaveatn on them (can you say threeway?)
IT IS WORKING.
What can be said of collaboration? (Eurythmics pretty much summed it all up in their 1983 hit “Sweet Dreams”) The worst of people go into collaboration with the mindset “What can this person do for me?” Which is a very unfortunate consequence of overindulgence of mass and social media, which has created a generation of undeserving narcissists pursuing pseudo-celebrity at any cost. (i.e your timeline).
The best of people go into collaboration with one question in mind:
How can I add value to the life and craft of those with whom I wish to work?
Too many of us walk around thinking that we are so GREAT, and you should want to work with me because I have A, B, C, D, and E going on. And I’m BETTER than you, you NEED me. Blah , blah , blah........................
This type of thinking attracts others who are thinking the same, and nothing gets done.
Your projects go nowhere,
you will keep coming in contact with folks who leave you high and dry
......resulting in asking yourself why you’ve been “working so hard” and getting nowhere.
ENTER with the ‘What can I do to help?’ mentality and watch, watch, as the quality of people and projects you come across increase tenfold.
*beep beep berp berp bop* That’s ALL EARTH
WE WORK IN PEACE

PODCAST Episode 1: That They May Know Their King

Approaching hi+graviti With an Abundance Mindset.
The essence of hi+graviti is self-improvement......
It is a platform by which the artist is presented to a low-risk environment and given the tasks of observing testing and education.
hi+graviti is NOT about flexing, or showing off to your friends on social media, or accruing popularity or local celebrity
....................Those are by-products.
Your main focus of participating in a show should be to hone and practice your talent, exude your passion to a room full of like minded individuals who have come to support you, and to increase skill in your form.
We provide the platforms to cater to your artistic waves not your ego.
Atlanta is the smallest biggest city in the world and its an absolute Mecca when it comes to Art, Fashion, and Music. We boast the likes of the High Museum of Art, Museum of Design, Savannah College of Art and Design and one of only 8 Tom Ford Stores in the country (Tom Ford a fashion brand that grosses $1 billion annually). With an abundance of high culture art outlets this creates a vacuum of local artists ( who are either still learning or haven't had the right chance) and forms that do not quite make it to these echelons leaving a need for their exhibition.
The aforementioned conditions forge what many wrongfully categorize as “competition”.
No.
When you view our cohort as competition you are instilling a psyche of doubt in yourself.......
As this doubt manifests it can turn into fear.
Fear of being left out, or left behind, or fear of failure.
This fear leads to anger which of course leads to hate.
The weakest of emotions is hate.
This can initiate a downward spiral of bad decisions that negatively affect your future and subtract totally from your mission of ART.
INSTEAD, realize that there is talent beyond your personal piece of this city.........
AND sometimes this talent boosts your artistic efforts.
Another may be more gifted, or simply have had more experience, or is more passionate than you in the field.
Whatever the reasons (may we add if any of these, it will not be apparent to anyone from the outside looking in, and you will be wasting your time frustrating yourself trying to figure out the secret)
It is of no concern to you. You need to concentrate on how to increase your skill.
You must also arrive at the infamous realization that in this life......
everything happens in a due time and a due process and EVERYBODY will have their time to SHINE.
BUT!......YOU MUST PREPARE FOR THIS MOMENT OF GLORIOUS SHINE, IT COULD BE YOUR BEST OPPORTUNITY *cough cough performing at Hi+GRAVITI*
We work without bias or absolute nep-otism to give everyone a fair shot.
There is plenty for you out there.
You will make it with hard work, vision, sacrifice, and entire dedication.
These are things people can never take away.
