who is the hottest person in town
"Okay so the weird thing about this town is literally everyone is hot, I cannot explain how weird that is"
does mystic falls have a sexy firemen calendar and are you on it
He blushed deeply, "I- uh - pass"
"do i look like your dude?" being bumped into was annoying. being spoken to with a semblance of familiarity was even more annoying. "it's fine. just watch where you're going. there's too many people here to be running around with your eyes closed."
"My eyes weren't closed though?" he said with furrowed brows before sighing. "Look, I feel really bad," he began, "let me get you a drink or something to make up for it? My treat?"
"no, it's fine. i'm being an asshole." vanessa shook her head. "it's crazy crowded here. everyone is running into everyone." she was the problem. she needed to stop, recalibrate and take a breath. the day had been long, but her response to a mild inconvenience was on her own shoulders. vanessa was not valentina. she had to hold it together and represent the family. "so much for first impressions, right?"
"Honestly I deserve it so I don't take it to heart," he said, always finding a fault in himself one way or another. It had always been an internal struggle with his self esteem and self worth so to shoot himself down was nothing out of the ordinary for Carson. "Hey, if you want we can easily start over?"
it was hard to say if nora had been accidentally separated from niamh or intentionally ditched. she understood that attending the carnival with your older sister wasn't the coolest thing in the world, but niamh had agreed to go. nora's grip on both the beverages she purchased was tenuous at best as she tried to get her cash back into her wallet, and the force of another body bumping into hers was enough to send both cups crashing to the groups. "me? i'm fine. my overpriced sprites? maybe not as much. are you okay?"
"Oh shit I'm so sorry," he said as he quickly got his wallet and pulled out a twenty before handing it to her. "You're lucky, I usually never carry cash but a friend of mine owed me money from a bet so here," he said as he extended it out to her. "I'm really sorry about your overpriced sprites," he smirked
the carnival was an exercise in self control. lettie was, by choice, choosing to sustain herself with blood bags instead of hunting. overall, it was far from ideal. she wasn't as strong, her compulsions faltered. all the supposed perks of being a vampire felt a little out of reach. still, lettie wasn't totally at peace with the idea of digging her teeth into someone's neck again. that didn't mean the temptation wasn't there. the throbbing crowd of people with their pulsing arteries were all but calling to her as lettie did her best to ignore their siren song. she felt like she was doing a decent job until another body made contact with hers. there was a millisecond where her fangs began to slide into view before control was regained. she moved a hand quickly to cover her mouth until the immediate risk had passed. "—'m fine, thank you. are you?"
He could see in her eyes that she was struggling and he felt it was only right to stand by her side and make sure that she was okay. Maybe it was the hero complex he had or maybe it was him simply wanting to do something for someone else but he found himself adamant in his decision. "Yeah, uh, I'm good," he said with a weak chuckle, "look if you want, you look like you could use a shoulder to lean on or something and I can stay by you?" he offered, hoping he didn't sound too weird
"that's okay, there's no pressure or anything to win." allison chuckles in response. suddenly she has absolutely no idea what to say after the strange query. raising a brow in both bewilderment and concern, she attempts a smile. "uh? i don't think so?" it was a strange thing to ask, but there was always stranger. "are you okay? just sit for a second, get some fresh air."
"I swear I'm not this weird," he meekly defended as he plopped down besides her, offering her an embarrassed grin before looking forward. "It's funny," he began, "I've lived here practically all my life but it's like I've never seen this place this lively before. Weird, huh?"
April almost let it slip that he could kidnap her any day but managed to hold her tongue for once. That would have been cringe. She climbed inside his car. " Thanks for the lift ! I can't miss curfew or I'll be grounded for the carnival." It was one of the reason she had been asking random people for a ride back home. There was no way she was missing the carnival. There would not be another event on this scale for many months." And I'm April !"
He could feel that she was about to say something but he was blind to the fact at her not so innocent intentions so he kept his mouth shut, not wanting to embarrass her. "Oh dang, we don't need that, that's supposed to be a huge event going on" he breathed, wondering why someone her age would get grounded but he, not having parents, was probably unaware of what happened behind closed doors. "Awesome, nice to meet you!" he beamed, flashing a lopsided grin, "have you lived here long?"
what is your most precious memory ?
"Oh god, uh," he stopped, having to think for a moment, "maybe when I joined the fire squad - as I like to call us - kinda solidified what I wanted to do in life, y'know?"
are you superstitious?
He held up two fingers pinched close together, "a little - I mean mainly with ghosts and stuff but besides that it's hard for me to believe in things I can't exactly see"
Feeling any different lately?
"Dude yes!" he exclaimed with a sigh, "listen if you got any advice please share because I literally feel like I'm beginning to lose it dude"
he should've known better ..... now he was in too deep. heart at a gallop , brain hissing-itching-scratching ..... brain that sounded like the grit and grind of shrieking metal ( he was sixteen and seeing god through the haze of whatever pills had been stuffed inside his mouth. sprawled out on her mattress , the girl he'd just fucked was going on and on about industrialization and rust and blood and he was thinking about vicki. she was right. hell sounded like the grinding whirr in his head right now. like the cogs in his brain spinning and chafing and- ) snapped from his revelry. " shit , " he muttered. blown-wide pupils stared at a mess of spilt popcorn. he was pretty sure he wanted to eat that too. damn. " nah , you're- " a wave of the hand. " 's fine , seriously. don't worry about it. " eyes caught on ride , all technicolor lights and bodies hurtling faster and faster ..... maybe they'd go supernova. he grinned. " i almost fell out of that one once. " the belt hadn't been clipped well. " wanna ride it with me ?? "
He had his brief stint with drugs and he knew when someone was hyped on something and this guy was definitely on something, or possibly even multiple. He wasn't a part of the D.A.R.E. community and had no reason to chastise the other for what he was doing but he felt it was only right to keep an eye out and make sure this kid didn't OD or something. "Huh," he said as he looked at the ferris wheel, "yeah me too, long story"
to be honest? no one's had a rougher time lately than tyler lockwood. crashed his dad's fucking car after a freak accident in which he basically developed spontaneous tinnitus or whatever, which was a fun conversation to have with his dad. (but seriously, what was that?) dealing with elena gilbert's dopey kid brother still actively, consistently invading his life in the most annoying ways possible. the vicki thing. and now this guy, who never learned how to walk in a straight line. "how did you not see me, man?" swipes at his clothes, straightens his shirt, as if the collision did much to affect how he looks. "are you good? watch it."
People like the guy in front of him annoyed him to no end, the 'my dad has money so I'm entitled to act like a piece of shit' spiel. He knew who Tyler Lockwood and his family was and quite honestly he wished he could've run into a fucking murderer instead of this spoiled daddy's boy. "Listen, man, take the apology or don't - I really don't need the lecture"
"—you don't need to breathe down my neck. you know that, right?" the carnival was crowded, but there was still a little thing called personal space that could be adhered to. being around this many people already felt like pushing it. it was the carnival or home, though, and the santos house was stifling. vanessa needed to breathe, and it was impossible with her father around.
He stumbled back a few steps with raised hands, not realizing how close he had gotten to her. "I'm sorry, really," he said, face a bright shade of red, "I swear I was just walking and zoned out and kind of like drifted if that makes sense? I didn't realize I was that close"
April laughed at how ridiculous his suggestion sounded like. In what world would she kidnap him ? Firstly she would never do that. Secondly he was twice her size and maybe three times her strength, she would never be able to. And she did not have a car either. " No ! Of course not ! I would never !" She made a cross her heart promise sign. "I only kidnap people on mondays." She tried to joke.
"Oh shit, I kidnap people on Sundays," he said as he looked at his phone, "and today's Wednesday so I think you're good for a bit" he joked with a bright grin as he nodded for her to get in the car. "C'mon, I promise I won't bite. Name's Carson, if that helps?"
allison glances up in surprise and manages an awkward chuckle, tucking her hair behind her ear out of habit. "sometimes it's just easier to sit on the sidelines, i guess." she places the box of popcorn on the ground in front of her. "i'm allison, feel free to sit here - i promise i don't bite."
"Usually I'm into the games and stuff but I don't know, I'm just not feeling it today," he laughed softly, scratching the back of his neck as he looked back out at the crowd. "Do you know if something's going around? I mean I'm not contagious, I swear, I just... Like I don't know, god this is weird to ask a stranger"
