despite keeping your hands clean, the rest of the world around you made it difficult. your father was a conman, a good one at that -- and your mother thought she could handle it, told you she could, but she soon proves she's had an escape plan all along. she leaves without a word, without a single loose thread to know her by. your father was the kind of man who believed he could have it all. the money. power. a wife and kids. but the way he sought his power left him no choice. he got the kid, but lost the wife. thus, you followed him around the country in his stead. but, as much as you considered yourself to be alone -- you weren't. you had your best friend at your side, following beside the man you grew up calling uncle just as you followed your father. just not exactly in his footsteps.
besides the constant relocation, you had somewhat of a normal childhood. that is, until you were finally let in on the family business at the age of ten. your father never wanted you to be a part of it. it hadn't been a lie -- that you constantly had to move for his job. it just came with a bit of a larger facade. and while you had asked your best friend, reyna archer ( then miller ), if she had known, if she had been aware of just how deep their family was amidst the dirt, her silence had said everything. there she goes again, always trying to protect you. it had been what she always did.
despite being force-fed the knowledge that you have to stay under the radar, you can't hide just how well you do in school. teachers would want to know the parents of this gifted little girl -- when in reality, your mother had made her grand escape and your father would do anything to keep himself from being found. it's for your own good, sweetheart, he'd always say. the nodding faces of dear uncle and reyna were enough to get you to believe him. you spent the rest of your educational career being homeschooled.
early 2009
considering the efforts your father had gone to keep you out of his work, it comes as a shock to you when he's arrested. he's always crossed his t's and dotted his i's when it came to you. you had once thought that perhaps he had left it all behind, gone out of business for the sake of raising you. and yet, someone found a loose thread, and was smart enough to tug. this leaves you in the care of your uncle, but it was your now eighteen year old best friend who truly stepped into the role of caretaker. you had no other living relatives, and they stepped up. without her, you may have never graduated high school. stayed on the path, when all you wanted to do was be overrun by your grief. there she goes again. protecting you from the world, protecting you from even yourself.

they've always called you a cat, haven't they? you always land on your feet after all, when you fall.
this time, you land in new york city -- not just to attend college, but to start a life without the people you used to call family. now, you are the woman you've always wanted to be. this time, you're allowed to graduate at the top of your class at colombia, before moving on to nyu for law school. even before you finish, you're known as a shark. the kind of woman who would be happy to scrape you off her red-bottomed shoe before you even graduate. you're not quite sure if your classmates love you or hate you, but then again, you never quite find it in yourself to care.
early 2015
second year of law school, you meet him. as much as you initially tried, you could never quite shed that attraction to danger that coursed through your blood, was fused into your dna. vince was a soldier for the serpents -- something he was quick to come clean to you about. he didn't care how stupid it could have been. he wanted you to run, while you still could. but, you surprise him by simply quietly placing your hand over his. you're not going anywhere. some call it selling your soul -- while you simply called it making sacrifices for the sake of family. you join the serpents, on their payroll. you and vince marry within the year in a no-nonsense, courthouse wedding, and began your life together.
i never lose. that quickly becomes your catchphrase, and you quickly prove it too. you were a dazzling star in the eyes of giovanni moretti -- and while you never wished for praise from anyone, you couldn't deny how good it felt.
2021
you get the last call you ever wanted or expected: he's gone, veronica. raid gone wrong. while around the other serpents you remain tough, as grounded as could be, you're quick to crumble the second the door to your home closes. like a phoenix rising from the ashes, however, you emerge so much stronger. your skin, while always thick, becomes even coarser. in the courtroom, you go from a tiger to a whale shark. the reason you joined the serpents may have left this world, but you remain loyal as can be. not only are they the first family you believe yourself to have ever truly had your back, but it's a piece of vince that you can still cling to.

a chanel queen. the fashion house makes up a lot of her closet and the rest of her clothing falls in line with that aesthetic. old money, clean cut.. you get the deal.
does not plan on committing to anyone any time soon, and started putting herself out there again about a year and a half ago. she's mostly found comfort in one night stands, things with no strings. it takes a specific person to not just catch her attention, but keep it.
lives in a tidy, borderline sterile apartment in one of the richest manhattan neighborhoods. constantly clean, light, neutral colors. almost resembles an interior design showroom.
MORE TO COME.
