This Day in WCW History: Bash at the Beach PPV Took Place in Daytona Beach, FL [July 7th, 1996]
An inconspicuous poster for what ultimately became the most important pay-per-view for World Championship Wrestling in their history with the formation of the New World Order.
Some photos of the May 15th Masked Mania tour stop in Frisco, TX. Seems like it might be one of the only times I’d be able to see Ultimo Dragon, the original La Parka, and Psicosis together for just a four hour drive in return.
Sonny Onoo was also around but not was avoiding the main public areas. Only there to assist Ultimo behind the scenes.

Having just completed his rookie year in WCW, 'Heavy Metal’ Van Hammer is proving to the world that he possesses the kind of determination and drive necessary to succeed in the squared circle.
Hammer strikes a presence in the ring as insistent as the heavy metal beat that propels his favorite music: At 6'5” and 290 pounds of chiseled muscle, the New York City native displays a physique that is the product of countless hours of dedicated training and gym work.
Despite the fact that Hammer generally enters the ring with advantages in height, weight and strength, many opponents tend to underestimate him due to his relative inexperience in the sport. Those who do, however, often find themselves victimized by Hammer’s slingshot suplex – which leaves their heads pounding and ear ringing more than if they’d been front row for a five-hour Metallica concert!“
Fun fact: Van Hammer is holding a Lotus guitar here, an item from the early 90’s that were known for being nothing more than cheap knock-offs of more-popular guitars. Pretty fitting for "Heavy Metal”, who probably should’ve figured out his look by going through photos of Vinnie Vincent instead of Richie Sambora if he wanted to match his pink, studded Flying V.

RIP Van Hammer
25 years since the final episode of Nitro. I did not know the inner workings of WCW. I had no idea that WCW was already that close to death. I thought the Nitros were getting better but could easily tell that things were pretty grim as more and more set-pieces were stripped away from the shows.
Seeing Vince McMahon start the broadcast off was a complete shock to me, but I was glued to TNT the whole night. I was initially excited for the eventual WWF vs WCW storyline that never became what I wanted out of it.

Ultimo Dragon posing with Tinieblas and Tinieblas Jr., holding Alushe from Dragon's EMLL debut late 1991. Photo is from an issue of Weekly Gong dated 12/19/1991, caption states the match was on Nov. 22nd. Hard to find more details on this online.
Also, I'm realizing now that Alushe became KeMonito!
