Unexpectedly ran into Richard Gadd again at an HBO event tonight! He wasn't even on the schedule, but it is great to know he is still campaigning for that Emmy even if they snubbed him for writing. He is the nicest person and genuinely seems interested in everyone he talks to.
He also chatted with Jim Rash a bit, so I got a picture of them repping their works.

Emmy nominations opened up today. Hopefully the Television Academy shows Half Man and other deserving series some love. I'm doing my part.
Welp, I tried with my one Emmy vote, but alas. I did suspect that HBOMax had put more eggs in the DTF St. Louis basket in their Emmy FYC campaign.
I wonder if using the finale as the FYC episode hurt at all, because at the FYC event it seemed a lot of voters hadn't seen the show yet, and the last episode was A LOT without context and didn't have Stuart or Mitchell.
I appreciated that it did let them discuss the death scene without fearing spoilers, as that scene was underdiscussed in press events.
I am most surprised at the writing snub as that was one of the strongest parts.
At least Richard got nominated. Hopefully the BAFTAs go better.
One of the major upsides of working in "the industry" is getting to see things months before anyone else.
But the downside? The NDAs.
For six months or so you have to watch everyone online speculate furiously while you keep your mouth completely shut.
It sucks when the movie is amazing and you desperately want to join the hype.
It sucks even worse when the movie is terrible and you just want to scream, "Noooo, don't get your hopes up!"

can't stop thinking about how "dark and gritty treasure island prequel" sounds like the premise to the worst show ever aired but it's literally good. goes to show that nothing is for certain in this life

I propose we wait 20 or 25 years until Mitchell and Stuart are 40-50 years old and can make a new version of Half Man, now as their adult 2.0 versions. ☝️😭

The FYC interviewer actually asked Mitchell and Stuart if they were down to do a remake in 20 years where they play adult Ruben and Niall!
Stuart said of course and Mitchell said he was down for any paying job (as a joke). I sadly didn't film that exchange.

One side note, when they were announcing the cast as they came out for the Q&A, Jamie stood for Richard specifically, which no one else did.
On a SAS: Rogue Heroes side note, I also complimented Stuart Campbell briefly for his work on Rouge Heroes, and he said they have finished filming season 3 recently and he teased that Bill Fraser has a plotline he is particularly excited about next season!

By the way, the previous Richard Gadd clip highlighting the sharing the joint scene was in response to this response from Stuart and Mitchell to the FYC interviewer asking them about intentional homoeroticism in the younger Niall and Ruben scenes. Stuart notes that he didn't get any direction specifically about homoeroticism, but he was briefed on Ruben's traumas.
