Because people have been asking about images as well, here’s a quick list of Navigation and Social Media Icons - image format. Part One:
01. FamFamFam (PNG) An oldie, but always a popular choice. There are three sets online, including the World Flags which some might be interested in. I would recommend “Silk” as it has more than 700 everyday and popular UI elements icons to choose from. No Social Media Icons. 02. Premium Pixels Icon Set (PNG/CSH/PSD) As described, 58 pixel icons with a PSD included. No Social Media Icons. 03. 41 Social Media Icons (PNG) Sqaure set of social media icons in two sizes, includes popular sites like Twitter, Tumblr, Last.FM, Facebook and many more. 04. 106 Pixel Perfect Icons (PNG) Another pixel icons set. There is a “F” and “T” that refer to Facebook and Twitter but no other Social Media icons. 05. Grunge Minimal Iconset (PNG, Vector) A gray/transparent circle set of Social Media icons, comes in three sizes and includes the main sites.
After this question I’ve had a few questions about learning HTML/CSS and general theme making. I know many people suggest the best place to start is w3schools - and it’s a great resource for basics but another interesting site I would recommend is CodeAcademy. CodeAcademy is basically an online course which is absolutely free. Absolute beginners would start with Web Fundamentals but there are also other courses: Javascript Fundamentals, jQuery and a little programming (Code). I think it’s a fun way to track what you learn, getting to play around with settings, you earn points as you move along and can even compare notes with your friends and stuff. So if you’re interested in the basics of HTML have a go, and tell me what you think.

TUTORIAL BY PSCS5; How to make colorful squared background and this .gif effect.
Requested: rcmiley submitted: Can you please make a tutorial at how to do this? (the background colorful thing) http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6ffg017cG1ql1i4ro3_250.png :)
and
kidrauhlkingdom submitted: do you know how to do this effect? http://static.tumblr.com/vnagifn/6BKm2xjpr/background3.jpg
For the Edit:
1. Cut your person out. If you don’t know how to, use this tutorial. That’s the way I do it.
2. Make a new document.
3. Select the Rectangle Tool shape.
4. Now just start making random squares on your background. Each time you make a new square, select a different color.
5. Drag your person on to the background.
6. To make the stroke effect: Duplicate your person, click on the fx button:
and select color overlay. Pick the color you want and press ok. Make sure you have the regular picture on top of the stroked one. With your arrow keys, start moving the stroke picture to the side.
This is how everything should look like:
For the .GIF:
1. Make a new document.
2. Open up three pictures and crop each one 75px • 199px.
3. Save this picture and in your canvas duplicate it 2 times:
4. Now once you have you pictures cropped out and the ribbon set up on the background like this:
Drag one of your picture’s on to the background. Select the first ribbon and click ctrl. You should have lines moving around the the ribbon and the picture. Now go to Select → Inverse. Click on the image you put on top of the ribbon and press DELETE on your keyboard. It should look like this:
5. Repeat the process for the other two images. Then merge the images with the ribbon. Do this by right clicking on the image and click merge down.
6. Now go to your animation frame and select all the ribbons, with your arrow keys drag them all the way up so that the only thing you see is your background:
7. Now make a new layer on your animation frame:
8. Now on that second frame start lowering the picture with your arrow keys on your keyboard. It should look like this:
9. Now make another layer, and start lowering the picture again. Your third frame should look like this:
10. Now repeat step 7 and on each new frame, lower the picture. You should have at least 6-8 frames of the transition. You don’t need more than 8. Let me show you what I mean:
The first frame which is just the background. I have 7 frames of the transition. Like I said you don’t need over 8 frames, that’s too much.
11. Having your last frame layer selected, make a new frame. Now select the second picture on your layers palette. Your going to move that down like you did for the first one:
The new layer:
The second picture should be selected in your layers palette:
12. You want your ribbons to have the same number of transition frames and you want them to look the same, so go to View → Rulers.
13. Now your going to have rulers showing like this:
To get the blue line showing, which is what we want, click on the top ruler and drag the blue line down (the gray line is going to turn blue once you let go):
14. Select your second frame:
Having the Move Tool selected, drag the blue line down to the bottom of the ribbon like this:
15. Now on the new layer you made on step 11, this is how your going to get the thing to look the same, so drag the picture down to the blue line:
16. Now your going to go back to the third frame:
drag the blue line down:
17. Clicking the last frame (mine was 9):
Make a new layer
18. Now move the ribbon to the blue line:
19. Keep repeating these steps: select the fourth frame → drag the blue line down to where it touches the ends → make a new frame layer → move the picture to where it means the line. And just repeat until you have the entire ribbon showing.
20. It should look something like this when your done:
See I have 7 transitions like I did for my first ribbon.
21. Now your going to make a new frame layer and repeat all the steps above. But this is how your first frame of the third ribbon should look like:
Layer 15 is the last frame of the second ribbon and layer 16 is the frame you start to drag your image down.
Now for the text effect, this is simple:
22. Once you have everything done. Select your last layer and make a frame layer. On that frame layer put your text and lower the opacity to about 15%. Your going to repeat this process: Make another frame layer and keep raising the opacity until your text layer is finally visible:
22 was the last frame of my third ribbon. 23 was the new layer that I made and placed the text and lowered the opacity to 15%. The rest of the frames are the new frame layers that were made and as you can see the opacity of the text layer is more visible.
23. Now set the time to 1.0secs, save it and your done. :)
