welcome to mystiika ! thanks for checkin’ out the blog :) this is an 18+, mutuals only, indie oc & canon multimuse. & penned by yours truly, greg ( he/him ). i'm low activity but verging on semi-hiatus pretty much at all times for health reasons & am iconless most of the time these days. i range from single para to novella length posts. for a complete list of current genres & fandoms, look at the plotting guide linked below
my other blogs are:
salemsaberhxgen. ( hiatus )
dwykan. ( hiatus )
additional note: on the tail end of a hiatus after taking time to deal with mental health & other personal problems. i’m now officially making a slow comeback so please be patient if i’m not writing as much as i have previously ! <3 that said ! soon i’ll be going around to my mutuals & trying to start up new things if nothing starts naturally through memes or calls & such.
so... ik i haven't posted anything rp related in months & really only twice in the last 3 months at all. so first things first, a belated merry christmas, happy chanukah, happy diwali, happy new year, & anything else !
secondly i wanna ease myself back into rp a little bit in the new year so we'll see how that goes
& thirdly, i did a silly lil edit of the fortune warren reads out to layla in the paper lantern scene & and wanted to share
so !! i figured i'd give a bit of a health update/where i'm at since i sorta just dropped off the face of the earth again. the back issue is resolved to a degree but i'll need a couple more sessions with a chiropractor most likely. but that's also not really the only health issue i've been dealing with so i've just been super low energy/motivation. but things are improving & i'm hoping to get back to the blog in the new year once all the holiday excitement dies down & i've had a few more weeks for physio ( & hopefully a new medication starts to show some benefits by then as well )
i do enjoy coming up with gift asks for blogs/muses for any major connections with my own tho so i may or may not try to come up with a few to send in tmr or maybe the day after depending on when/if i think of something good
anyway i'm off to play some video games with my kid cousin while she's staying with us & be the fun cousin that i am :)
i know i haven't been active bc of my back ( which has improved btw, i just have to prioritise real life stuff for now ) but i just wanted to pop on to say shana tova u'metukah to any fellow jews on here !!
figured id give a little back update! so im in less pain overall & am way more independent but sitting is still very uncomfortable/hurts a bit so I can't do it for very long. last time i tried to write but couldn't focus, but i feel like ive got better odds now so i may try to work on something later. that said i can't make any promises
hope you all are doing well tho ! & as always i can be reached on discord :)
i'm rewatching jjk before finally catching up on s2 & i'm realising that toge's words don't always match the definitions i have already so im taking notes of dialogue when that happens & once i finish watching & try to pin down new definitions i'll have to update my existing vocab post
alright ! i've got both myself & my laptop propped up in a mostly comfortable position so i'm going to attempt some writing. its not perfect but its a start
a random blog just went through & spam liked a ton of warren hc/meta posts & i'm just kinda... ??? like its not illegal & it's all stuff i'm proud of/posted publicly but it feels questionable somehow. in theory i don't care whether they use my hcs or not, but looking at their blog it does confuse me a little ! they're a self insert writer & take requests so out of curiosity i looked through their list of fandoms they'll write in & sky high isn't even listed??
hey so i threw my back out ( at the ripe young age of 27 <3 ) around 3am monday morning and have been sorta stuck spending most of my time looking at the ceiling since, with improvements mind you but still. i forced myself to finish that death meta but can't really even sit up for long periods of time yet so writing hasn't really been an option. i did manage to rig my projector for the ceiling instead of on the wall where it was before which means i can easily watch stuff while resting which is STELLAR
so yeah ! im sort of around on discord & tumblr ims but responses can be kind of sporadic. hope y'all are doing well tho !!
i basically re injured my back last night which sucks. i'm not quite back to square one but i'll be needing to take it extra easy again. i might cheat & try to write at least a little bit in the next day or two since i have an idea on how best to set that up while being as horizontal as possible. anyway i'm doing great & will be continuing to catch up on survival shows until further notice

re; the woman who named Death ' ada ' & why Death chooses to take her form when a form is needed
trigger warning: severe loss of quality of life leading up to major character death
other notes: i will capitalise ' Death ' below to help differentiate between the state & ada as a being & a quick reminder that the fc of said woman ( & Death in threads, is a young julie andrews + explanation in another separate post once i make some actual icons & have more than bullet point notes of the topic )
after the thousands of years that had passed, Death no longer remembers her name, nor her voice. Death cannot recall where on this planet she had lived, nor the name of the language she spoke. but Death can never forget the look in her eyes as she took in such a simply beauty as that of a plain & common flower. Death cannot forget how gently she would hold an animal in need of her help from anything to removing a thorn to helping heal a broken wing. Death cannot forget that she'd spoken so tenderly or sung sweetly to any living thing around her. most of all, Death cannot forget the sheer feeling of love & peace that was felt in this woman's presence, & the name she gives Death. & while Death typically interacted with other beings with a wall of distance of sorts in order to avoid interfering too much whenever Death's incorporeal heart wished she would follow through on those thoughts.
at first, Death took the form of a bird — able to watch on from leafy trees as this strange human went about her day, almost as if keeping track as this woman interfered where Death could not. sure, Death had some control over death, but if she saved every life she could, the world would fall apart. so it brought on such joy to see when one animal took care care of another ( whether it was a human offering water to a tired deer or a humpback whale saving a seal from an orca ) sure, the animal saved will still die another day, but the simple act of saving a life was something beautiful on its own.
as a whole, Death found humans to be quite sympathetic to creatures they identified with ( although often so to inanimate objects, despite the lack of life & for reasons Death had yet to fully understand ). & so Death had seen humans saving others selflessly as much as other animals, but none quite so often — nor as well — as this girl, this woman.
the next time Death came closer to her it was once she reached adulthood & in the form of a common rodent of the time, attempting to lead her to a similar animal caught in a trap set by nature, to see what exactly she would do. & without a second thought, she followed what had ( to her credit ) appeared to be a rather distressed creature. to see if she followed until she saw the injured one & attempted to do what she could. of course, Death knew this creature would die, but it wasn't done in an effort to pain the woman ( althought Death was sure it would ). rather it was to see how she would still attempt to save an animal from a clearly fatal injury, & how she might grieve when she sees she cannot.
& eventually, Death comes to her as a child — appearing no older than 9 or 10. at this point, Death can give no name to offer in introduction for having never been given one & having no reason to have a name for itself until now, nor can Death say where it had come from because how was Death suposed to explain it was as old as time. but, Death knew the language, & so they talked. about nothing, or everything, & most interestingly so, the woman talked about herself. her life, her story, what she does & how she chooses to live. & when after a few days of the human knowing Death had no name & so had asked if Death would like a name. after a few moments of consideration, Death said that it would, & that it would like if she could choose the name herself. & so came the name of ada.
ada was sure the woman knew they weren't human. but it didn't seem to make any difference to her. however, eventually, the woman fell ill shortly after she entered her 30s. it started out as a cold, which then worsened until it developed into pneumonia. a little while later, she was stuck in bed, her breathing worsening until each inhale & outhale came with a shallow wheeze. ada would sit by her bed for hours a day, talking to her anything she wanted to & filling every possible moment so she didn't have to talk only to stop & catch her breath every few words.
during this time, the woman thought about death more & more — something most humans did when having some warning about their future. & ada could hear these thoughts, as they did for any creature capable of such a thing, but ada did their best to block it out. she wasn't in much pain, a fact ada contributed to in some small part. but it was soon to be her time to die & they both knew it.
in most deaths ( a distintion also needing a separate post ), there is a window in which ada could wholly influence the outcome without the world falling into complete chaos, & in most cases it was following something of a prayer or sometimes an unspoken wish. but, if ada communicated to a creature the option, it was possible to trigger a window to appear. most often ada did this when suicide was the would-be cause of death. she might sit & talk with the creature ( mostly humans in recent centuries ), & stopping time in order to do so & opperate within a single second when time continued normally after. or in cases such as with with this one, with this woman, offering the chance to pass peacefully after a long or even short fought battle. ada cannot see the future of what would become of a person if they lived, but ada can see when or what their death will be if they did. it was also in these moments that ada made their identity known, to a degree at least. most often in the form of a wordless feeling & complete understanding in their chest of why ada was there.
so one day, ada asked her what she wanted, if she wanted to die. it took a few moments but she reached a hand forward, taking ada's hand in her own. she gave her a smile, getting out a quiet ❝ oh, my sweet ada... ❞ Death did not often cry physical tears. having spent so long without a physical form, & most of which having no tear ducts, the pain of their heart seldom reached a face. but in this moment, ada gave a large, reassuring smile as tears began to fall. they move to stand. leaning forward ada presses a gentle kiss to the woman's cheek, & so took her soul as lips receded. it was as peaceful & painless as a death could be, ada grateful they could at least do that much.
ada only gets so far as dropping back onto the wooden stool before a wail leaves their lips in a way they hadn't thought possible. frozen in time so there was nothing & no one calling them to their purpose, Death grieves. for wnile freezing time was something they were able, the moving forward or backward in time was one of the few if not the only things Death cannot do — or perhaps, more accurately, it's something even they knew better than to mess with.
it takes an immortal lifetime before ada unstops time, a lifetime sitting at the foot of a grave made for her in the way ada had seen humans make for each other time & time again, telling the freshly dug dirt how wide & beautiful reality was beyond what she'd have been able to comprehend. talking of the day that woman had been born, the aura of her even as an infant was enough to see Death take pause, how Death had watched her grow up as all life around her grew tenfold by her presence. but, when time finally resumes, everything in existance calls out to Death all at once. though to Death that reality was what had always been, had it been anything else god or mortal, it would have been so overwhelmingly & deafeningly loud they'd have gone mad in seconds.
but, despite the pain Death felt at the lost of their only true friend, in a way things still felt a little less lonely than the millenia before, for now they had found a new way to love, &, more than that, Death had been given a name to carry for the rest of time — a sign that there was at least one person who had truly loved them.
& so it was at this point that Death helped the woman live another day in spirit, past the dispersing energy of her soul, & with the understanding that she would have been honoured to see herself & her love staying behind with a being she adored as much as she did ada. & from then on, unless another form was better suited in the moment, ada chose to share that tender touch & warm smile they had loved so much with the infinite creatures as they grow & live their final day.
a meta post can be found here for details on the name & reason for the default form Death uses, but at some point over the millennia death gained the moniker ' ada ' which is what it uses to introduce itself. as such, to make it easier to read this info post i will be using that name to help differentiate between death as the state vs death as a being or capitalise Death to indicate the being. as the form they choose to take most often is that of a woman & i often switch between pronouns especially because what even is gender as a concept, but these pronouns includes it/its. it all depends on the state Death is in for me to use one pronoun or another. below i will try to primarily use it/its but will switch to they/them or simply say ada when i feel like its a little unclear or matches the timeline, as you'll understand a bit from that name meta linked above. that said, ada has & will continue to take the forms of people from the life of the person dying in order to help their passing more tranquilly, if death believes a person/animal with a connection will be better rather than the form of the woman ada will default to. side note: in threads, any pronoun goes honestly so use whatever you feel fits best.
so for my version of death, ada has existed since the beginning of time. it controls both the death & birth of all things. from the birth of universe to the birth of a fly. from death comes life & from life comes death. it’s all connected & does so through ada. all this to say, ada is something of a god. now, that doesn't mean that ada the only god. she can work with other gods as they come up, other givers & takers of life. though it is ancient even among those gods, it was there when they all came to be & as such, demands respect inherently. ( & as an aside, i can easily alter this lore to accommodate other muses ).
she aims to help people live their lives to the fullest before their time comes, but when it does, ada can come to each person/ each living thing, differently, comforts them as best she can, & aids them to pass on peacefully where possible.
but it also hurts her to take lives, to do so in painful ways especially, but just as ada can do things of her own accord, she is bound by her destiny. ada is, at times, forced to be cruel & evil. so she lives ( for lack of a better word ) each day with regrets because, ultimately, she loves everyone & everything so fully. death doesn't want to take lives but there's value & necessity in death order for other life to continue.
earlier i also mentioned both the birth of universes & flies as being something ada is a part of. & while she doesn't necessarily feel the same contributing to the passing of animals without a brain vs something as intelligent as humans, the simply act of taking the life of anything is significant. seeing the death of something as beautiful as a star is difficult even when it brings about the something as breathtaking as the nebula it creates.
i want to discuss the woman whose form ada takes but as this post is already rather long & the background ada has with this woman is also quite long so i'll be making a separate post on her specifically
i n f l u e n c e s
when creating ada, i was firstly influenced just generally by death as it comes up in various media, from things like death/angel of death from supernatural, to stories where death isn't a person. but after reading things such as tuesday's with morrie by mitch albom, my own personal thoughts about death can, has, & will continue to change. this means that my concept for ada is also subject to change here & there.
that being said, my death personified is ultimately heavily inspired by the book thief by markus zusak because of death being the narrator.
the way death introduces themself as the first thing in the novel really stuck with me in particulate. of course there was mention of the observable things that death would notice at the moment someone passes. but to me these two parts in particular were noteworthy:
" it suffices to say that at some point in time, i will be standing over you, as genially as possible. your soul will be in my arms. a color will be perched on my shoulder. i will carry you gently away. "
&
" the question is, what color will everything be at the moment when i come for you? what will the sky be saying? personally, i like a chocolate-colored sky. dark, dark chocolate. people say it suits me. i do, however, try to enjoy every color i see — the whole spectrum. a billion or so flavors, none of them quite the same, and a sky to slowly suck on. it takes the edge off the stress. it helps me relax. "
it just felt so human, while also incredibly isolating in a way. obviously ada is not a 1:1 in personality, but just the concept of death existing as an actual being with a consciousness & feelings were the building blocks for ada as a whole.
realistically the only characters ada can't interact with are other characters that are death ie. death from supernatural or thanatos from greek mythology
