Liberated By Clothes: FvF Meets Jan Jan van Essche in Antwerp

Born and raised in Antwerp, designer Jan Jan van Essche creates menswear that blends ethnic tradition with western characteristics and encourages the human body’s free movement.

We visit Jan Jan and his partner Piëtro Celestina in their shop and apartment, which also serves as a studio, to discuss his design choices and the identity of his clothes, on Freunde von Freunden.

I haven’t been posting here because I’m still working on this design whenever I can and I didn’t want to just post endless screencaps of it in progress.

I have been catching up the new menswear collections though so I thought I’d post some pictures of my favourite so far. This is the Dries Van Noten s/s 2015 men’s collection, which has some really lovely details. I’m a big fan of the style.com detail images as so much gets lost in the full body catwalk shots, especially with a collection like this which is so beautiful up close.
