Born the youngest of six sons, Ron Weasley was no stranger to fighting for a place in line. Always waiting to be the one his parents doted on for the day, always trying to catch up to the others on a broomstick, always left out when the older boys shut their doors to talk about things they said Ron couldn’t hear. Hogwarts was supposed to be something different – something that made him stand out. There was never any doubt he’d be in Gryffindor like the rest of his family, but Ron was looking forward to something special anyway. At Hogwarts, he’d be in his own year – have his own lessons – and make his own friends. Never did he expect one of those friends to be The Boy Who Lived.
Ron never thought Harry would actually die. The possibility was always there of course, but the danger of death never seemed like a reality. When Hagrid came out with Harry’s body in his arms, it was like Ron’s world had suddenly come to a crushing halt. Yes, the Wizarding World had lost their chance to kill Voldemort, but that wasn’t what made Ron feel as though he couldn’t breathe. Harry and he had always needed each other. What was he supposed to do without his best mate? Neville pulled Ron from the battle and it was several hours later before Ron the magnitude of what happened truly set in. If it hadn’t been for their plan and Ron’s desperate need to bring Harry back, he would’ve thrown the Slytherins to the side even if the others protested. He was doubtful they were telling the truth but, in the end, it worked just as they’d promised and the underground D.A. began.
Fiercely loyal, Ron has a dry humor that can easy make people laugh – even though it is sometimes at the expense of others. He’s proven time and time again that he would go through fire and back if it means helping his friends through the war. But coming from a big family means it’s not just his friends he’s looking out for – he’s got brothers and a sister and parents that he worries about every day. He knows Fred died in the battle, but how many others will he have to lose before it’s all over? Ron won’t admit it, but he’s feeling the itch of impatience from before. Only this time he doesn’t have a Horcrux to blame it on.
Hermione Granger: They kissed in the heat of the moment during the battle, but nothing really came of it. Ron had thought the war would be over and he’d get to figure out his relationship with Hermione. Now, however, they’re fighting Voldemort and trying to find a way to bring him down once and for all. He thinks about her sometimes, but there isn’t much time to figure out who they might be together when they’re trying to survive.
Blaise Zabini: It’s not just Malfoy that Ron doesn’t trust - it’s all of them. Blaise has always been a bit quieter than the rest, but it doesn’t fool Ron. He’s just as guilty as the others and now suddenly he wants to be one of them. It doesn’t add up and Ron can’t believe the group voted for them to be allowed to stay. He’s suspicious, to say the least, and isn’t going to stop investigating Blaise until he knows exactly why he came.
Daphne Greengrass: About the only Slytherin Ron can handle. He defended her after her mess up when they returned to the battle. He can understand what it is like to lose a sibling; he doesn’t blame her for trying to save Astoria because it took all the resolve in the world for him to not do the same for Fred. They’ve bonded a bit over their killed family members, but Ron isn’t quite ready to call her a friend.
